Hi guys,
i’m using xtheme 6.2.5 and i’m trying to translate my website and it is not working!!! i am using WPML all up to date and i can’t even translate one page, i have followed so many fixes and it just not works.

Please let me know what to do, i am dealing with a very angry client, we have purchased the theme because it says it’s fully compatible with WPML but nothing is working.

Hi There,

When you edit a page with Cornerstone, you will the flags at the bottom right of the content builder:

Did you already add the content for each language?

Would you mind providing us with login credentials(by clicking on the Secure Note button at the bottom) so we can take a closer look? To do this, you can make a post with the following info:

  • Link login to your site
  • WordPress Admin username / password

hi,

yes i did all that and it’s not working.
i have also duplicated the page then inserted a template so i can edit it in the other language and still nothing, don’t know what’s happening.

Hello There,

I have logged in to your site and most of your home page was edited outside of Cornerstone. When you click on the “Cornerstone” tab, you will be promptly with this message:
Hold up! The content has been modified outside of Cornerstone. Editing in Cornerstone will replace the current content. Do you wish to continue?

This means that the cornerstone data were already corrupted which is why when you view the Cornerstone live preview, it is empty. Your cornerstone layouts is already gone though the page code can be seen in the “Text” tab when you edit the page. Even if the “text” tab will display the code, the most important is the cornerstone data which holds all the information for the cornerstone live preview. I am afraid that you will have to recreate the pages in Cornerstone from scratch.

That’s what it says, like a warning, but all the pages have been created in Cornerstone, if you click edit with Cornerstone you will see all the content overthere, so…i don’t think thats the problem. Everything has been done in Cornerstone.
Look another example:
Don’t tell me that there is no issue and that the content is corrupted

Hello There,

I have logged in to your page and I can see that you have created the page in Cornerstone. When you edit it, you can see the 3 flags. When editing the page in German, the sections were empty. Hi RueNel,

As i said at the beginning, i have followed all that and it just doesn’t work, have you seen the page in my previous message?
Please, if possible, can you translate a page, i mean at least duplicate the content for a page in one of the languages without editing the text, if you can do that and tell me how you did please?!
you guys are claiming that is 100% compatible with WPML but nothing works, it doesn’t even duplicate the content.

Hi @ceciliasifontes,

Let’s do this one at time and this should also serve as reference of users that have the same issue.

  1. Make sure your language format is in Admin > WPML > Languages is set to this

  1. Go to Admin > Settings > Permalinks and re-save it to make sure the new URL format takes effect

  2. Make sure the language redirection is inactive in Admin > WPML > Languages

  1. Make sure your translation is set to Create Translation Manually in Admin > WPML > Settings, this is the most important, else, you’ll not able to translate the page.

None of these are configured in your WPML, please configure them as provided above.

Hi Rad,

Thanks for that.
What i managed to do now is the following:
i can duplicate the page just fine in another language but then when i try to edit the text(translate the text) using Cornerstone, when i hit save it’s all gone, empty page:|.
Have a look at this page:
http://lightflow.waxandgold.com/de/channeling/ (all the content is there), now can you please try and change the title for example, after you click save it’s all gone.
So, how can i translate?

Hi @ceciliasifontes,

Something is wrong with your site, even the templates aren’t there after I saved them. All related to data being affected by something and this isn’t related to translation. Then please let us know your FTP login credentials as well, and please allow us to disable the plugin for further checking.

For the meantime, please check for the following first:

  1. Ensure everything is up to date according to our version compatibility list at https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/troubleshooting-version-compatibility/195. Please follow the best practices when updating your theme and plugins. See https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/setup-updating-your-themes-and-plugins/62 for more details.

  2. If you’re using a caching plugin, clear all caches including browser cache then deactivate your caching plugin and other optimization plugins.

  3. If you’re using a CDN, please clear the CDN’s cache and disable optimization services.

  4. Test for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

  5. Remove custom CSS, Javascript and templates.

  6. Reset your htaccess file by renaming it to .htaccess-bak. Then in WP Admin Menu, go to Settings > Permalinks and just click the Save Changes button.

  7. Contact your host to increase your allocated memory or do it yourself by adding this code in your wp-config.php

Hi @ceciliasifontes,

I’m able to translate the title to Die höheren Befehle des Lichts and it saves okay. I did that while the active plugin are just Cornerstone and WPML Multilingual CMS. Which means, the culprit is among other plugins. The above error also disappears when I did that.

Please do this, deactivate all the plugin except for Cornerstone and WPML Multilingual CMS, then activate each plugin one at a time while checking if the builder saves (check out the error too). Then once it stopped working, the last plugin that you activated is the culprit.
