The Grid stopped working (Theme X > PRO)

Hi there,

We want finally want to make the transition between Theme X to PRO, but I encounter a problem with The Grid extension. Our website heavily relies on this plugin, and unfortunately the PRO theme doesn’t like it. Our live site runs Theme X (https://skatetimber.com), and as you can see both the product slider and the Instagram pictures use The Grid. Now when visiting the staging environment (http://staging1.skatetimber.com), you see that only a shortcode is displayed (btw, we don’t use the Instagram slider in the staging environment yet).

I also tried converting to PRO on the live site, which also didn’t work. I read on multiple topics that there is still a classic The Grid element/module, but not in our builder. The shortcodes won’t work even in a text element.

Could you help me out?

Hi There,

Thanks for writing in!

Look like the grid plugin has not activated or corrupt in your staging site.
As we don’t have access to your admin area so can’t confirm exactly the issue. Can only suggest you few troubleshooting guides for a possible solution.

Ensure everything is up to date according to our version compatibility list at https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/troubleshooting-version-compatibility/195. Please follow the best practices when updating your theme and plugins. See https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/setup-updating-your-themes-and-plugins/62 for more details.

Test for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

Reset your htaccess file by renaming it to .htaccess-bak. Then in WP Admin Menu, go to Settings > Permalinks and just click the Save Changes button.

In case the issue persists, would you mind providing us with login credentials so we can take a closer look? Please provide following information:
Set it as Secure Note

  • Link to your site
  • WordPress Admin username / password
  • FTP credentials
    All the best!

I got it working, the problem somehow was that The Grid (even while the theme license is activated), didn’t show it was way behind on updates. It was still running version 2.3, so after deleting and reinstalling the plugin, it worked again.

Thank you anyways for your help

Glad to hear you’ve sorted it out
