Sometimes the website is loaded pretty grim

Hey! Sometimes, my website is loaded pretty ugly, and I’m not sure as to why exactly.

The way I always replicate this is through a New Private Tab / Incognito Mode on browser, and it almost always loads it (fully) looking grim, which gets instantly fixed upon refreshing.

The second way I replicate it is through Google’s Mobile Friendliness page checker, which has the same issue, first test is horrible, second is fully green and nice.

While this isn’t an inconvenience to me personally (because I can refresh it), it is to a lot of the new viewers I get, as they most likely don’t know they should refresh it for a better version of the website.

What’s worth mentioning I think is that I’m using WP Rocket (with Minify CSS and Minify JavaScript).

Could you guys throw a pair of eyes on this issue? Thank you so much!

Hi There,

Thanks for writing in!

This might be due to several reason!

  1. Ensure everything is up to date according to our version compatibility list at https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/troubleshooting-version-compatibility/195. Please follow the best practices when updating your theme and plugins. See https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/setup-updating-your-themes-and-plugins/62 for more details.
  2. Clear all caches including browser cache then deactivate your caching plugins and other optimization plugins.
  3. If you’re using a CDN, please clear the CDN’s cache and disable optimization services.
  4. Test for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.
  5. Remove custom CSS, Javascript and templates.

Hope this helps!

Hey! I’ve already tried all of those, nothing really helped. I was afraid it might be one of the elements causing it, or a line of code within the theme.

Hi there,

It seems to be caused by the caching plugin or the settings you have set to the plugin that is causing the issue.

Try temporarily disabling that plugin then check the results again.

Hope this helps.
