Slider revolution slides moving

Hello,
I added two new slides to the trailer slideshow using slider revolution. The first two slides do not finish playing the trailer before moving to the next slide. All of the other slides do. Also, sometimes the sound plays and sometimes it doesn’t. I never had a problem with this before. Please advise.
Here is the url: https://lbylfilms.net
Its the second slideshow labeled trailers.
Thank you.

Hi Jeannie,

Can you try updating the youtube setting of those 2 new slides? Go to the slide then click the video and set the Pause Timer during Play to on and Mute at start to off. Here’s a screenshot of it.

Hope it helps.

hello,

Thanks for your reply. Both slides had the “mute at start off already”. I set the pause timer during play and that worked but the first slide still doesn’t have sound but If you watch it on youtube it does. Please advise. Thank you

Hi Jennine,

The Pause Timer during Play mute it I think. I think it’s similar to Autoplay where it will lock your viewer and the browser doesn’t want a video that plays with sound. It’s the new browser policy, https://developers.google.com/web/updates/2017/09/autoplay-policy-changes

And the browser may automatically mute or stop the video if it’s hidden. And on page loads, all slides are hidden which is why sometimes it won’t work and sometimes work. What it wants is proper interaction with user and the video instead of a proxy play button, could you try enabling the controls? Because when I do that, it works with sound.

Thanks!

thank you that seems help on desktop but on mobile the first slide is not playing at all and all the trailers videos are being cut off. Also the sound only plays on some of the slides. Thank you

Hi Jennie,

I totally understand your dilemma! Unfortunately, there is no 100% robust way of achieving what you want on mobile devices due to incomplete support for such cases.

I have a suggestion for this case. I suggest that you add the slider in a separate section and hide that section on mobile devices. Here is how to do that:

For the mobile devices I suggest that you think of another way to show the data, Something that s not dependant on slides.

Thank you.

what do you mean by incomplete support? I thought xtheme is responsive out of the box. Wouldn’t that apply to video slides?

Hi Jennie,

When it comes to the slider, it’s either you let its auto-responsive feature works, or define your own responsive setup. Responsiveness usually works on width only, that’s why per device, you’ll have to define proper sizing of the content like those videos. And we all know that videos follow specific aspect ratio like you can’t force a rectangle video to a square video or else it will be stretched. That’s why it clips, example, this will happen if Youtube will let you do that

Let’s say this is how it’s displayed on desktop

If you want to prevent clipping and wanted the built-in auto-responsive feature do its job then it has to be stretched like this

There are many contributing factors depending on the content you’re displaying, and if there is restriction especially you’re adding videos not hosted from your site which you have no control. Auto-responsive works out of the box based on the setting you have configured to your slider. Adding inappropriate setup doesn’t mean the slider will correct it. Please check these as well

https://www.themepunch.com/slider-revolution/responsive-settings/
https://www.themepunch.com/revslider-se-doc/layer-responsive-behavior/
https://www.themepunch.com/revsliderjquery-doc/responsive-setup-2/

With slider responsive grid size, you can define specific grid sizes per device that you think will match to your video sizes. Perhaps you’ll also need the auto-responsive configured instead of full-screen. And you can use this tool to calculate the aspect ratio of your slider to match the video https://andrew.hedges.name/experiments/aspect_ratio/, currently, youtube videos usually have 16:9 but your slider grid size doesn’t match size.

It’s quite tricky, it’s a trial and error since your layout isn’t a simple slider where it only displays full-width image or video. But you also added controls within, like arrows which adds to the size. So please play with those grid sizes until your video clipping is gone.

And what was recommended is just displaying different content/slider on desktop and mobile if you need a quick solution for the clipping.

Thanks!

ok ty for your response

You’re welcome!
