With regard to your other concern, I have tried to reproduce it on my end but I could not. Basically when you save a template with the same name, you should get the following dialog box asking whether to overwrite.
Once you agree to it, it will always update the existing template.
Could you please make sure that you’re using the latest version of X theme or Pro by following our version information (https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/troubleshooting-version-compatibility/195) and update if necessary (https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/setup-updating-your-themes-and-plugins/62).
If you’re already updated, please check for a plugin conflict as well by disabling your other 3rd party plugins except Cornerstone plugin. If the issue resolved, then you can activate your plugins one by one to see which plugin causing the issue.
Also please check your error logs on the server and see if there’s anything recorded there.
