Sidebar link missing under Appearance

When we click on Appearance in the panel, usually there is a tab for Sidebars where we can make a custom sidebar. However the button/clickable link is missing.

Is there a way to get that back.

Thanks,

Hello Grant,

Thanks for writing in!

Please try out following solutions and let us know the outcome:

  1. Please make sure that you are using latest version of WordPress 5.2.2.
  2. Test for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third-party plugins, and see if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.
  3. Please clear browser can server side cache (any enabled).

If you still have problems kindly get back to us with the result of the steps above and URL/User/Pass of your WordPress dashboard using the Secure Note functionality of the post to follow up the case.

Thank you.

Thanks for the reply. However, some of the plug-ins I am sure will delete forms, etc if disabled.

Is there a safer way to do this.

Hi Grant,

Ok, forgot the deactivating of plugin first. Can you confirm your WordPress is in the latest version (5.2.2)? You can see that at the bottom-right of the admin dashboard. If its notify an update then that means its not up to date. If its version 5.2.2 then skip this and proceed on updating the Cornerstone.

Your current Cornerstone version is not the one that is compatible with your current X theme (6.5.6), your Cornerstone (3.5.4) is one update behind. Please update that Cornerstone to the latest version (3.5.5)

Remember to clear all your caching features (plugin, server-side, CDN, and browser’s cache) after updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.

Hope it helps,
Cheers!

Thanks for the reply. Yes, we did/do have the latest version of Wordpress, however, we did not have the latest updates for Cornerstone. That is now updated and the Sidebar is visible.

Question about updating X-theme. It looks like there is an update to X-theme. Should we update that. We want to ensure we don’t lose any of our data. We will do a backup of course, but wanted to know if updating x-theme is important.

Thanks again for the fix.

Doesn’t seem to be working. If we deactivate other plug-ins such as Contact 7, when we reactivate, do we need to recreate the forms already created? Basically do we need to start over with what is created in Contact 7.

So, we have the Sidebar working again. Thanks.

But, not sure if this is an x-theme issue or a Ninja forms issue.

We create a new sidebar. Go to Widgets and move the Ninja form that we created to the sidebar.

Go to the page and insert a Widget or Classic Widget, tried them both.

Add the Ninja Sidebar form to the widget area and nothing displays. These steps work for all other widgets, but not Ninja, so I am thinking this is a Ninja problem but not sure.

Can you advise?

Thanks.

Hello Grant,

Ninja Form should display in the widget area unless there are JS error on the page that prevents the form from displaying. Would you mind providing us access to your site and give us the page where you have inserted the form so that we can investigate for errors and anything that could prevent the form from loading. Thanks, submitted the secure note

Hello Grant,

I have logged in and created a test page. The widget area element will not load in Cornerstone. When you view it in the live view of the page, the form will display.

This is the Cornerstone view:
Uploading…

And the live view can be seen in the url I posted in the secure note below. The left side is from the Widget element added in Cornerstone and the right side form is the widget added in the main sidebar.

Please check it out.

Thanks, this is for the Contact form. We edited (after your post) to have the Upload form in the left side of the page you created, and same issue with the Upload form. But, at least we know that the form displays in the “live” version. Thanks for getting is this far.

Are you able to find out why the Upload form uploads a video file to the server even though we have it set to upload to Dropbox. It actually does upload files less than 40 mbs to Dropbox, but nothing larger.

The settings we have show that we don’t want video files to be uploaded to the server, but the video files are still being uploaded to the server.

Not sure if this is a Ninja problem, an X-theme issue, conflict with a plug-in, or all.

Thanks, much appreciated.

Hi Grant,

Instead of creating a sidebar for adding your form to the page, copy the form shortcode instead and directly paste that to your page using the Content Area element, see sample here. It won’t show a preview on the Cornerstone either, but at least you save time from creating sidebars.

Regarding the File Upload issue, I tested the case and it seems it uploaded on Dropbox, can you check that to your Dropbox account directly if the file is there?

As you know already that is a Ninja Form feature, if the issue persists please contact the plugin author as we can not provide support for 3rd party plugins.

Thank you for understanding,

Thanks for the suggestion on the sidebar. We will try that.

Yes, the file was uploaded to dropbox. The issue we are having is two-fold. We can’t upload files greater than 40 mbs, and we don’t want the file stored on the server, only on Dropbox.

I suspect this is now a Ninja forms issue and we will contact them to resolve further.

Thanks for all your help

You are most welcome!
