Sidebar categories not activating widgets

Hi there guys,

I’ve implemented the built-in separate sidebar functionality within my WordPress site. I want some of my blog posts which are categorised as “musical aptitude” to show up with a certain widget area.

However, This only works when I go into the sidebar settings and select individual posts or pages. It doesn’t work when I simply select the taxonomy of that post category i want to populate with the different widget area.

Currently I’m having to select every single page or post that I want with that sidebar.

Could you please help?
