Show full posts on archive pages

Hello,

  • I am using gravity forms to publish posts.

  • I have a plugin called advanced excerpt running. I am still unsure what it does (since I inherited this website), but when I turn it off the posts do not display properly and they look good as of now).

  • My issue is I want the archive pages to show full posts, not a summary.

  • How do I do this?

Down the line I may like to upgrade the view to use The Grid, but not now.

Kind regards,
Rob

Hi Rob,

Thanks for writing in! This will require some custom development knowledge. Kindly follow this thread (https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/full-post-content-on-category-page/5906/5).

Thanks!

Thanks, I have followed these directions and the result is no different:
pls look at http://cbac.robstrickland.net/category/weather/, and specifically the first post.
Thanks,
Rob

P.S. Can you tell what the plugin called advanced Excerpt is “doing” to modify the display of these posts?

Hi There,

Unfortunately we cannot know what the Advanced Excerpt plugin does as it does not belong to the theme or part of the bundled plugins.

If you would be happy to use The Grid, I would suggest you to do so. It is quite fast to setup The Grid and it looks great.

If you decide to go the other way, please turn off Advanced Excerpt so we can take a closer look.

You can control the number of characters on X > Theme Options > Blog.

Hope it helps

Hi There,

On Dev I have deactivated the plugin ‘advanced excerpt’ and I think you can see the “styling” of the posts is quite different on the archive pages… so perhaps we can figure out how to use The Grid in conjunction with the Gravity form to achieve the ideal display?? Or other?
Broken display on dev wth the plugin off: http://cbac.robstrickland.net/category/weather/
Live example w/ plugin on, and nice display: http://cbavalanchecenter.org/category/weather/

Thanks,
Rob

Hello There,

The changes in your child theme did not work because you have uploaded the file in the wrong folder. Please relocate the file into this one:
wp-content/themes/pro-child/framework/views/global/

If you need anything else we can help you with, please let us know.

Wow, that’s brilliant - it works. Thank you for catching my organizational error!
Regards,
Rob

You’re welcome
