Render element error - extra columns, etc

Hi all,

Having a few sites that are all suddenly having the same issue. Sections have tons of weird rows added to them, and then we’re getting the render element error. I’ve read some other tickets - but we have the latest versions of Cornerstone and X on all these sites. We’ve also cleared WPEngine cache, cleared CloudFlare cache, disabled plugs, different browsers, all the same result.

Things of course look ok on front end, just gets crazy in Cornerstone… can you take a look? Not sure how to give you login credentials without it being public?

Hello @stonerome,

Thanks for posting in! You may have updated to the version which has a bug related to the columns. Could you please confirm that you are using the latest version already?
Our latest versions are:

  • X theme 6.3.8
  • Cornerstone 3.3.8

This latest release contains fixes for several issues so be sure to check out the changelog (http://theme.co/changelog/).

_After doing the updates, always remember to clear all caches (if you are using WP Rocket, WP SuperCache or W3 Total Cache) when updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.-

You can provide your WP credentials in a secure note so that only you and our staff can see it. To know how to create a secure note, please check this out: https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/how-to-get-support/288

Please let us know how it goes.

Thanks- I added a secure note above with login information. Also screengrabs of what we’re seeing once inside Cornerstone for the home page…

Hi @stonerome,

Thanks for writing in and the screenshot.
I can see you have added wrong column value for the section.

If you are doing 6 column section then the code should look like this.

1/6 + 1/6 + 1/6 + 1/6 + 1/6 + 1/6

Regarding the other issue, you have added custom HTML to the section which has issue rendering in the editor.
Please check your HTML tag for invalid markup.

Hope this helps!

That’s the weird thing - we saw the column thing on many sites and many pages… we didn’t add that. I understand how to fix it - it’s just weird that it happened.

Same with the area that had faulty code. There was faulty code in there, but again, we didn’t add it.

Hello @stonerome,

I can confirmed that this bug were introduced in 6.3.x. It is no longer present in 6.3.8 though. You may have edited the pages using the later version which is why it is still existing in one of your pages. The easiest way to resolve this is to edit those pages manually and remove the unnecessary column settings.

Hope this explains it briefly.
