Relative Path Image Linking

Hello X Team,

Do you have a bit of global JS code or CSS you can send me to force all the images on my web-site projects to conform to relative path linking? I’m so tired of rolling out web-sites to new servers or applying an SSL only to have it break all my link paths. It’s a nightmare everytime. I’ve tried so many find/replace plugins that only work half the time. Please help!

Hi there,

We do not have a Javascript or CSS code that forces the images to use a relative path.

What I can suggest is for you to use Better Search and Replace then if you are going to change your site from http to https, search first for http://yourdomain.com then http:\\/\\/www.yourdomain.com.

Hope this helps.

Okay, but can your team work toward integrating an optional X Theme solution for users to apply relative image path linking on a site project. What a tremendous help this would be.

I don’t understand replacing it with http:\/\/www.yourdomain.com.
Should it be https:\/\/www.yourdomain.com. And do I include back and forward slashes as you have them?

Thanks for your feedback. I’ll add that as feature request.

To your other question, yes that should be https. Please see our migration guide here. And, it would also be best to contact Better Search and Replace support to learn how to change strings stored as serialized data because that’s how the builder’s data is stored inside the post meta.

Thanks.
