Problems with updating X

Hi there,

I’ve got some problems by updating the theme X and I don’t know how I can solve it.
I updated WP to the last version, also updated al the plugins, including Visual Composer.
When I try to update X, the layout crashed.

The installed version of X: 6.1.5

Any suggestions?

Hi Jeroen,

As recommendation, please create a staging where you can test the update first. This will make sure you can copy the settings over from old site to your staging as possible fix before finally moving the staging to live again. Then make sure toclear cache after update. This is so latest theme code are loaded properly. Also, since you are using Visual Composer please make sure the Legacy X integration is on under Admin > WPBakery Page builder > General Setting.

Thnx for your quick answer Lely.

We already work with staging for updating al our websites.
Cache and settings WPBakery already checked and this doesn’t work out for this site.

Any other suggestions?

Hi Jeroen,

Can you please provide WordPress login credentials to your staging site? So that we can update and test this issue further. We also may require your FTP credentials, so please include that as well in your secure note.

Also please note that you need to update both X theme and Cornerstone plugin to avoid incompatibility issues. You can check the latest version numbers from the following link (https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/troubleshooting-version-compatibility/195).

Thanks for your answer.

We already updated the Cornerstone plugin.
The problems arise when we install the latest version of the theme.

I added all login credentials in the first post.

Please take a look and try to fix the problem.

Hey Jeroen,

As Lely mentioned, you need to enable Legacy X integration in WPBakery Page builder > General Setting. This is because X Integration is enabled by default in the past but it’s disabled now because more users wanted to use Visual Composer natively. I enabled it and it did fix the broken layout after updating X. I wanted to grab screenshots but your site only loaded this:

That is not caused by updating X nor enabling Legacy X integration.

Please also be aware that you must not edit your VC built pages with X integrated elements without enabling Legacy X Integration because Visual Composer will wrap the X integrated elements into a text block. See https://youtu.be/ur6pO1YrykQ

Thanks for your quick answer Christian.

I see that the layout is no longer correct.
The one-page navigation also no longer works.

Any idea?

Hey Christian,

After checking your e-mail and Legacy X integration was turned off again … but turned on again. No change, the layout is still not good.

The home page still looks great in the backend, so nothing is merged into a text block.

The navigation no longer works because no anchor has been set on any of the rows.

Any suggestions? I can’t figure out what is going wrong…

I fotgot to clear the cache.

I think everything is working fine now.
