Problem with Cornerstone displaying content after Wordpress update

Hi, today we updated our websites to the latest version of Wordpress - 4.9.8 - and have problems with Cornerstone as a result. I’ve looked at this forum and wonder if it has something to do with shortcodes, but I’m not sure how to fix these - the main pages with the issues are:

https://selfhelpafrica.org/ie/shop -all the content is displaying on the left - code such as this is showing in the visual editor: [column type=“1/2”] [/column] [column type=“1/2” last=“true”]

[column type=“1/3”][/column][column type=“1/3”]Shop[/column][column type=“1/3” last=“true”] [widgets_on_pages] [/column]

I’m not sure if this is a Cornerstone issue, but since the update, random additional radio buttons have also appeared on forms like on this page: https://selfhelpafrica.org/uk/donate

Any help is much appreciated!

Thank you,
Jess

Hello Jess,

Thanks for writing in!

It seems to me that you are using an older version of the theme. Could you please update to the latest versions?
Our latest versions are:

  • X theme 6.3.8
  • Cornerstone 3.3.8

This latest release contains fixes for several issues so be sure to check out the changelog (http://theme.co/changelog/).

_After doing the updates, always remember to clear all caches (if you are using WP Rocket, WP SuperCache or W3 Total Cache) when updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.-

Please let us know how it goes.

Hi, thanks so much for the quick reply! We are using a child theme, and the update for Cornerstone isn’t showing as an option for us in Wordpress - is there a quick fix that can sort out the formatting problem in the meantime? We had a nightmare with the Wordpress update and I want to take our time with any other updates, but hoping to fix the formatting asap. Thank you!

Hi,

I checked and can see you have Autoptimize plugin installed.

Try to clear your plugin cache and check again.

With regards to updating your theme and cornerstone , you need to update manually using FTP.

Please see manual update section on the link below

Thanks

Thanks for your advice, we will update to the latest X-theme and Cornerstone via ftp.

Will this overwrite the X child theme and will we therefore lose our site customisations and data?

How can I avoid this? Thank you!

Hello Jess,

Thanks for updating the thread.

You just need to manually upload the files under X directory or simply upload the X folder. Updating the theme won’t have any effect on the child theme and the customizations. However, you do have the option to taking a complete site backup before updating the website.

Thanks.
