Pro Upgrade from 2.3.8 to 2.5.5

Hi,

if we upgrade the pro theme from version 2.3.8 to 2.5.5, many page formatting will be lost.
We work with a child theme.
Where should we best start to solve the problem?

Many thanks for your help.

Hi @aacoit,

If you didn’t edit any parent theme templates, your page would be safe.

Before upgrading to the latest version, please completely backup your website first.

Here is the update guide:

And the changelog:

Hope it helps

We have not made any changes to the parent theme. The faulty formatting is visible only in Internet Explorer. In Chrome and Firefox, the site is ok after the update. We have already deleted all the chaches, unfortunately without success …

Hey @aacoit,

Would you mind providing the URL of the site in question? I have checked your account but you have several licenses so I am not sure which site is having issue after the update.

Thank you.

The website is an intranet site and therefore not publicly accessible.

Hello @aacoit,

Thanks for updating the thread.

It’s a bit difficult for us to suggest you a solution without taking a look at the setup. Here’s something that I can suggest you:

  1. If possible please make a copy of website and pup up on a staging/test server and share the website URL and login details in secure note for us to take a closer look.
  2. If you are not allowed to make a copy of website and uploading on a test server, then using Google Chrome Dev tools, please share the screenshot of the console error messages. May be looking at the error message we can suggest you some solutions. However, please note that we can’t give you assurance of the solution as we don’t have access to the website.

For creating staging server please take a look at following resource. https://www.shoutmeloud.com/wordpress-staging-site-server-testing.html

To work with Google Chrome dev tools and error messages, please take a look at following resources.

Thanks.

Hi, thanks for your help. In the meantime, we have recognized the problem. The error is caused by the hosting environment. We change the hosting environment anyway so the problem is solved.

Glad you were able to figure it out
