Pro Update Causing Website Crash/Removal

I’ve just updated Pro through WordPress Plugin menu but it came with an error saying the update was unsuccessful.

Now Pro seems to have been completely removed from WordPress admin and site has gone down completely.

How do I re-activate and re-install Pro, it does not appear at all within WordPress.
I need to get the site back up and running as it was?

See… https://fidelity-manufacturing.com

Under Appearance > Themes it now says…

Broken Themes
The following themes are installed but incomplete.

Name Description
pro Stylesheet is missing.

Can someone help retrieve our website after this update?

Hello @chrisholden84,

Thanks for asking and apologies for the trouble you are facing.

I checked the website and on my end it seems to be loading up fine. I can also see that you are running Pro version 2.1.4. Please see screenshot.

If the error is showing up when you update the theme from version 2.1.4 to 2.1.5 then there might be the case some themes files got corrupted in the update process.

I suggest you to download the most recent version of Pro from members area (https://theme.co/apex/dashboard).

After that login using FTP programs like Filezilla (it’s a free software) and then under wp-content/themes upload the Pro Theme files (please note that you need to extract the zip file and then upload the extracted files). I suggest you to take a complete site backup before uploading the files. You can take a look at following articles and tutorial for more information.

Theme update Guide:

Take a look at following tutorial to get started with Filezilla in the context of WordPress:

Use following resource to download Filezilla:

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks.

Hi Prasant

The site was backed up through JetPack, it took a lot of finding but I managed to re-load a version of the site from a day ago and the website is now back up and running.

Understandably nervous to update Pro from 2.1.4 to 2.1.5.

I’ve seen similar feedback on the Forum where users have needed to update the site manually through FTP, but as far as I can gather I’m unable to update the site using this method.

The site is hosted by WordPress, and I think they make it impossible to connect to their servers using FTP and Filezilla. I may be wrong, but I can’t find anywhere the server login credentials for the website, and only feedback on other threads showing WordPress do not allow this. It makes it hard for me to follow the update method you have listed.

I installed Slider Revolution plugin recently, perhaps this is causing an error conflict when I update from 2.1.4 to 2.1.5?

I also have a Pro Child Theme running, but I don’t think it’s actually needed as no modifications were made to the site in this way. I can’t find how to ‘downgrade’ back to the main Pro theme after having installed the Child Theme.

Thanks

Hi,

There is no known conflict with revslider and current version of the theme.

Try to contact your host and request to increase php memory limit to 512M and maximum execution time to 300
Then try the update again.

You can use this third party plugin to backup your site so you can easily restore in case anything happens after the update.

Thanks
