Pro Theme not working correctly after using wpengine migration tool

Hello,

I’ve migrated my wordpress site to wpengine using their migration tool. After doing this the pro theme options page, header page and footer page all don’t work. The loading animation plays and an error is thrown in the web console. I can manage to get into the pro validation, settings and content edit pages but can’t save any page content changes. When I make edits and save, it throws an error. I can however change settings in the settings page.

I’ve tried removing the pro theme and child theme and reinstalling them. This didn’t fix the problem.
I’ve also tried updating everything up to the newest versions, including wordpress core itself. The site is using php 7.2.

I have cleared the cache on the hosting site and I’ve cleared the wordpress cache in the admin console, as well as the style cache in the pro settings page.

I’m not sure how to get the pro theme working again. It is working fine on our live site that I migrated from. So it’s not a plugin issue. The theme also comes up as activated as I’ve added the test site url to the staging option on the licenses page.

Some help would be appreciated.

Regards,
Ross.

Hello Ross,

Thanks for writing in! I have checked your live site and the staging site from wpengine. I assumed the sites associated with your Pro license were the site in question. Please go to your Settings > General > Site URL and Settings > General > WordPress Address URL. Please make sure that you are using the same https or http protocol which were used with your WP dashboard url.

If nothing is working please provide us the url of your site with login credentials so we can take a closer look. This is to ensure that we can provide you with a tailored answer to your situation. To do this, you can create a secure note with the following info:
– Link to your site
– WordPress Admin username / password

To know how to create a secure note, please check this out: https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/how-to-get-support/288

Thank you.

Hey thank you for the reply. I checked the url and it’s the same as the one I have set in the staging field.

I’ll leave a secure note on the post so you can check out the site.

Hi Ross,

I couldn’t find what’s causing this, this is all I could see cs.js?ver=3.4.6:2904 Failed to inflate gzip data SyntaxError: Unexpected end of JSON.

Could you try re-creating the staging from the original site without modication? Then install better search replace plugin and replace all the occurences of original URL with the staging URL. Example, replace this from able tables

https://example.com/wp-content/

with

https://staging.example.com/wp-content/

Thanks!

Hi,

I tried replacing the old url with the new one first and that didn’t work.
I’ll have a look at re-migrating the site to see if that helps. I think it is more than likely the migration that broke something.
I’m not sure what it is that is broken as I’ve reinstalled both the theme and child theme. I guess it is the saved settings in the database or something?

Hi Ross,

Is the URL of the previous staging site what I place in the Secure Note? If so, kindly try following the directions I have placed in the Secure Note.

Hope this helps.
