Hi There @cyrock

Thanks for writing in! Upon checking your site, I see that you’re using an older version of Pro theme (2.3.8). The latest version is (2.4.6). You can check our change-log to see improvements and bug fixes (https://theme.co/changelog/). Also I would suggest you to upgrade your WordPress version as well. You’re currently using WordPress (4.9.9) and the latest version would be (5.0.2).

You can refer to our theme update guide here (https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/troubleshooting-version-compatibility/195) and WordPress core update guide here (https://codex.wordpress.org/Upgrading_WordPress).

After updating your WordPress and Pro theme, if you’re using a caching plugin on your server, you need to purge your server cache as well. Please refer to the following resource if required (https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-clear-your-cache-in-wordpress/).

In case if you’re still having issues, you can do the following to isolate this issue further.

  1. Disable your child theme: Often times, your child theme customizations may causing such issues. To identify if it is related to your child theme, head over to Appearance -> Themes section and then activate your parent Pro theme (this will temporarily disable your child theme). Then re-test your search functionality.
  2. If you have added any custom JavaScript codes into Pro them’s custom JS area (X -> Theme Options -> JS), try removing them temporarily as well and re-test your search functionality.
  3. Test for a plugin conflict: Disable all of your 3rd party plugins and re-test your search functionality. If the issue is resolved, then you can enable them one by one to see which plugin causing the issue.
  4. Regenerate your permalink settings: Head over to Settings -> Permalinks section in your WordPress backend, select the option postname and save the changes to regenerate your .htaccess file. Now re-test your issue again.

Let us know how it goes.
Thanks!

hi,

i did all this: No result.

cy.

Hi There,

I got the 404 error when visited the headers page:

https://www.jobcenter-kiel.de/pro/#/headers

It could be mode rewrite issue related which is responsible for permalinks. If it’s not configured or supported by your hosting, then you’ll get 404 on most of the pages. It maybe different from host to host so you may contact your hosting provider about that issue.

Thanks!

Done. Had to refresh Permalinks… I AM the hosting-provider  Now its ok.

Glad it’s sorted out.

Oh no…SEARCH is still not available. Please search for Miete, that means rent.

I see the that the search result page is empty. I then searched your pages for Miete and there’s no page returned. Your Portfolio is empty and though the default Post post type returned results, the posts are in draft mode. If you have that word in your other post types, the post type might not be searchable. For this, you need to contact the post type plugin author.

The theme also only displays the search form (via the Search element) and the search results that are returned by the WordPress search engine so this is unlikely caused by the theme. But to prove that, we first need to test the search engine that comes with WordPress.

Please switch to the default WordPress theme and test if the issue persists. It’s best to test this in a staging copy of your site. If the issue does persist, there might be something in your site filtering the search. It might come from a third party plugin. I’m currently have no idea what could cause this issue in WordPress but if this is the case, it’s surely not a theme issue.

If the issue does not happen in the default theme, please switch to the parent theme. This way, you’ll know if a custom code or custom template in your child theme is causing the issue.

Please do the suggested tests.

Thanks.

I dont use any…

i did. no result:

Hi There @cyrock

That means your issue is not related to X theme. I would suggest you to escalate this issue through your hosting provider, as they have full access to your site and log files.

Thanks!

Do you have any advice or experience with that kind of issue?

cy.

Hey CY.

I’m sorry but this is the first time I’ve encountered or experienced the issue also but one thing I forgot to mention is if you have added the text in a V2 element. It would not be searchable because WordPress only searches the content and the contents of the V2 element are stored in the shortcode.

For this, you’ll need a third party search plugin or search service that will search the frontend of your site rather than the WordPress content.

You can also try posting in the Peer to Peer Forum to see if other users have encountered this issue with WordPress also.

Thanks.
