Specifically more headers, footers, homepage layouts etc. It would be nice to just edit from templates instead of building from scratch every time.

We cannot respond about Cornerstone Essentials as it is a 3rd party plugin.
Regarding the templating functionality we are in beta testing phase of the template manager which will be a super powerful tool specially intended for that which should be out soon.
