One page navigation on mobile/ipad, etc

Hi

I’ve set up one page navigation using IDs on X Pro, and it’s working on my desktop computer. If I switch to tablets, mobiles, the menus don’t jump down to the appropriate ID on the page.

Can you help please?

Thanks
Scott

Hi Scott,

Thanks for writing in! To assist you with this issue, we’ll first need you to provide us with your URL. This is to ensure that we can provide you with a tailored answer to your situation.

Thank you.

No worries, added a secure note.

Hi there,

Thanks for writing around! There is a syntax error in your JavaScript Customizer, please navigate to Appearance > Customize > Custom > Edit Global Javascript and remove the code first from Customizer and add the following code:

jQuery(document).ready(function($) {

  var $body                = $('body');
  var bodyHeight           = $body.outerHeight();
  var adminbarHeight       = $('#wpadminbar').outerHeight();
  var navbarFixedTopHeight = $('.hm9').outerHeight()+$('.hm8.x-bar-fixed').outerHeight();
  var locHref              = location.href;
  var locHashIndex         = locHref.indexOf('#');
  var locHash              = locHref.substr(locHashIndex);
  var dragging             = false;

  $body.on('touchmove', function() {
      dragging = true;
  } );

  $body.on('touchstart', function() {
      dragging = false;
  } );

  //
  // Calculate the offset height for various elements and remove it from
  // the element's top offset so that fixed elements don't cover it up.
  //

  function animateOffset( element, ms, easing ) {
    $('html, body').animate({
      scrollTop: $(element).offset().top - adminbarHeight - navbarFixedTopHeight + 1
    }, ms, easing);
  }

  //
  // Page load offset (if necessary).
  //

  $(window).load(function() {
    if ( locHashIndex !== -1 && $(locHash).length ) {
      animateOffset(locHash, 1, 'linear');
    }
  });

  //
  // Scroll trigger.
  //

  $('a[href*="#"]').off('touchend click').on('touchend click', function(e) {
      console.log($('.hm1.x-bar-fixed').outerHeight());
    href        = $(this).attr('href');
    notComments = href.indexOf('#comments') === -1;
    if ( href !== '#' && notComments ) {
      var theId = href.split('#').pop();
      var $el   = $('#' + theId);
      if ( $el.length > 0 ) {
        e.preventDefault();

        if (dragging) {
            return;
        }

        animateOffset($el, 850, 'easeInOutExpo');
      }
    }
  });
});

Don’t forget to clear your browser’s cache after adding the code. Let us know how this goes!

Hi, thank you for that, I’ve pasted it in and tried, but alas I’m not getting it to work still on mobile, etc.

Hi,

You can try this code instead.

jQuery(document).ready(function($) {

  var $body                = $('body');
  var bodyHeight           = $body.outerHeight();
  var adminbarHeight       = $('#wpadminbar').outerHeight();
  var navbarFixedTopHeight = 132;
  var locHref              = location.href;
  var locHashIndex         = locHref.indexOf('#');
  var locHash              = locHref.substr(locHashIndex);
  var dragging             = false;

  $body.on('touchmove', function() {
      dragging = true;
  } );

  $body.on('touchstart', function() {
      dragging = false;
  } );

  //
  // Calculate the offset height for various elements and remove it from
  // the element's top offset so that fixed elements don't cover it up.
  //

  function animateOffset( element, ms, easing ) {
    $('html, body').animate({
      scrollTop: $(element).offset().top - adminbarHeight - navbarFixedTopHeight + 1
    }, ms, easing);
  }

  //
  // Page load offset (if necessary).
  //

  $(window).load(function() {
    if ( locHashIndex !== -1 && $(locHash).length ) {
      animateOffset(locHash, 1, 'linear');
    }
  });

  //
  // Scroll trigger.
  //

  $('a[href*="#"]').off('touchend click').on('touchend click', function(e) {
      console.log($('.hm1.x-bar-fixed').outerHeight());
    href        = $(this).attr('href');
    notComments = href.indexOf('#comments') === -1;
    if ( href !== '#' && notComments ) {
      var theId = href.split('#').pop();
      var $el   = $('#' + theId);
      if ( $el.length > 0 ) {
        e.preventDefault();

        if (dragging) {
            return;
        }

        animateOffset($el, 850, 'easeInOutExpo');
      }
    }
  });
});

Hope that helps.

Thanks, it’s got it working on the PC touchscreen, but alas it doesn’t work on a moible, ipad, android tablet. Am I missing turning on a setting or something do you think?

Hi again,

I checked it on mobile devices and I can replicate the issue you’re having, this might be happening due to the desktop menu you’re using in mobile, try using Navigation Collapsed element make sure to hide it in desktop view and hide the desktop menu in mobile screens.

Let us know how this goes!
