My Envira installation is broken since a couple of days ago

Hi,

A couple of days ago when I went into my WP Admin panel I saw an available update for Envira and I just went ahead with the update without giving it much thought.

Soon after, I noticed some things had stopped working properly in my gallery pages. I have Isotope “checked” for all galleries, and they used to display in masonry format as expected, but now they do not.

Also, I have Lightbox enabled for all galleries except one, and I was able to get a popup display when clicking an image. Now when I click an image the browser displays the contained jpeg directly. I can see the jpeg url in the browser address bar:

http://scottgelb.co/pkwp/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/IMG_0266. jpg

The other thing I notice is that I had the css opacity set to 90 and it WAS working (images initially at 90% opacity and transition to 100% upon mouse hover). Now they display at 100% all of the time. Additionally, the “css opacity” field no longer displays in the Configuration settings.

There may be other issues but these are the ones I’ve noticed.

I assumed the problem was that this was not an X Theme supported update, although I don’t know why Envira would allow me any of their updates since I have not paid for a license.

So I backed up my galleries, deactivated, and deleted the Envira plugin, and then reinstalled and activated it from the X extensions page. I was happy to see that my galleries were still there. However, the problems remain.

What can I do to fix this? Any ideas?

Hi somtamgaiyang,

I’ve checked your website and I can see that once I disable “Lazyload” option in Envira gallery, Lightbox is working fine. I have tested that on this page:
http://scottgelb.co/pkwp/testing-gallery/

so my best guess is that this is something related to JS/CSS minification option that you have in Autoptimize along with SG cache plugin as well. What I suggest is to do a plugin conflict test, the safest way to do that is to install “Health Check” plugin and enable “Troubleshooting mode” if everything went okay, then you can re-enable plugins one by one to figure out the culprit. The good thing about “Heath Check” plugin is that it’s developed by WordPress team and it only affects your logged in session so that other visitors won’t be affected.

Thanks.

Hi @Alaa,

I checked the test page you created and, as you said, the lightbox works. The opacity still does not work and I can’t tell if the masonry layout works because the images are all the same dimensions. And when I look at the configuration tab for that Envira gallery it still does not show the opacity setting. And although you said you got it to work by disabling lazy load, it shows “Enable lazy loading?” as “checked”. So I am confused about this.

I tried on a couple of other galleries to disable lazy loading but it did not have any effect.

I then installed the “Health Check” plugin and enabled troubleshoot mode. It disabled all plugins and replaced the X Theme with the default theme. I re-enabled only Cornerstone and Envira plugins but continued to see exactly the same problems.

Finally, I went into a different WP project that did not have Envira installed. I installed it and created a test gallery and experienced the same issues again.

Is it possible for me to get a download of the previous version of X Theme Envira plugin that I could install instead? I would like to see if it corrects the problem.

Hi there,

We’re not sure what version was your Envira and we can’t provide any older version. But I did check this on my end with 1.8.0 (which your current one) and lightbox works okay.

I also checked and yes, lazy loading is active but lightbox is still working. Would you mind providing the specific URL that isn’t working? Since the test page works then this must be not related to the version.

Thanks!

These are some of the galleries that don’t work:

http://scottgelb.co/pkwp/portfolio/matthew-s/

http://scottgelb.co/pkwp/portfolio/barbara-k/

http://scottgelb.co/pkwp/portfolio/ofir-a/

http://scottgelb.co/pkwp/portfolio/susan-p/

If you visit all galleries in the Portfolio menu you will see they all have these problems. Even the gallery that you somehow managed to fix with regard to popups:

http://scottgelb.co/pkwp/portfolio/susan-p/ (same gallery as in your test page)

still doesn’t fade opacity and doesn’t display the opacity setting in the Envira configuration pane. This is also true for all of the galleries. And you will see from some of these examples that the display layout is screwed up.

The only gallery that is NOT supposed to popup photos is the main gallery:

http://scottgelb.co/pkwp/portfolio/

Clicking a photo takes you to the sub galleries, and this is working. But the opacity fade and the layout are broken here as well.

I’m ready to go live with this site as soon as this issue is resolved. So thanks very much for checking this out for me.

Hello There,

I have logged in and disabled SG Optimizer and WP Smush plugin. When I tested the page again, the lightbox is now working. I have left the plugins deactivated so that you can test your other site pages with a gallery.

Please check your site now.

Hello There,

I have visited my test page and it is still working.

Your issue must be related to caching. Please login to your CloudFlare account and purge your site cache. Since you are using SiteGround, could you please disable the supercacher in your hosting panel? The SuperCacher is developed by SiteGround exclusively for their customers. It increases the number of hits a site can handle and boosts the website loading speed. The SuperCacher includes 4 different caching options for maximum optimization of your websites. You can access the tool by clicking on the SuperCacher icon in your cPanel.
