Hello,
I went to update my clients website the other day
displacedfilms.com
And I am able to log into my wordpress admin but I am unable to see my dashboard.
The last time I was able to log into my dashboard was June 1st.
I have reached out to my hosting people and they have not been able to find any errors. Please see their email below.
HELP!!
If you are not able to help can you suggest someone whom I can reach out to?
Let me know if you need any other info.
Thank you so much
Best,
Celine
EMAIL FROM THE SERVER PEOPLE:
Hello;
Thank you for your patience as we have looked into the issue with your
wordpress install.
After a considerable amount of research and experimentation, we are
unable to state what is causing the issue. Looking through 2 months of
logs shows that the website believes that it is serving the
information correctly, that is, it’s getting a call to the page, and
then produces a white screen as it believes that this is the
response that we want.
The first question that we would ask is, when was the last time that
someone was able to access the backend successfully?
The ‘White Screen of Dead’(WSOD) is a common issue with wordpress, so
much so that the official wordpress Codex has an entire page of
information regarding it.
#The_White_Screen_of_Death">https://codex.wordpress.org/Common_WordPress_Errors#The_White_Screen_of_Death
(https://codex.wordpress.org/Common_WordPress_Errors)
At the moment, we are comfortable stating unequivocally that the
server upgrade to php7 had nothing to do with the current state of
your site. We rolled back the change as soon as your team requested,
and the site is running on php5.6, which is what the server was
running on previously.
While reviewing the site, I attempted a number of troubleshooting
techniques to see if I could isolate the cause of the issue. There is
a chance that it could be related to the way that the URL is set in
the wordpress install, where it is forcing all traffic to go to
http://www. rather than just ‘domain.com’. There are ways to update
that via phpmyadmin which is accessible via the mypair.com interface,
as well as via the wp-cli which is available via any SSH interface.
At the moment, the best that we can offer is that reaching out to a
wordpress developer may be your best bet. The fact that the site is
still running everything outward facing without issue, and it is only
the backend is beyond curious.
However, from the hosting side of things, everything is working as it
should. The page loads, DNS appears to be correct, there are no errors
being generated in our logs. As the server is operating without issue
with dozens of other wordpress websites, and hundreds of websites
overall, we believe that there is some configuration error within the
installation itself, which is outside of our purview.
If you have any further questions, please let us know.
Best Regards,
Harrison
