Multiple Environments: Misconfigured URLs

I’ve created a staging environment using a Enamoured Iris Video Production of our live, Enamoured Iris Video Production. After installing the staging environment we cannot use Cornerstone to edit existing or new pages created on the live environment.

  • This staging environment does not currently have X Theme or Cornerstone installed.
  • The staging environment is operating as a seperate Wordpress instance.

I’ve browsed through the forum and read a number of articles and seen the following advice.

The staging environment was using a different WordPress Address and Site Address to the live environment (Settings > General). After reading the advice I updated the staging website URLs to be in line with those of production. However now I’m stuck in an endless redirect loop and can’t login to the Wordpress Admin Dashboard of the Staging website.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Hi Enamoured,

Thanks for writing in! As mentioned on the second advice, the most probable cause would be an incorrect website migration. Could you please follow our migration guide here (https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/cornerstone-content-builder-migration/126) and re-setup your site from scratch.

Let us know how it goes.
Thanks!

Thanks for the reply @mldarshana

Two questions.

1. Why is this necessary if the new subdomain does not have an active installation of X Theme?
2. How do I resolve my current issue where I now can no longer access the Wp-Admin for the Staging Wordpress instance?

Thanks,
Heath

Hello Heath,

Thanks for updating the thread.

  1. The problem you are facing is related with migration issue. Though the link my colleague @mldarshana shared explains the concept using Cornerstone but the principals can be used for non X Theme/Cornerstone websites. However, you can also take a look at following tutorial. https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-create-staging-environment-for-a-wordpress-site/
  2. Please take a look at following article for some solutions. https://codex.wordpress.org/Login_Trouble

Thanks.
