Is it possible to have the navbar location to the side and sliding in/out, instead of at the top?

You are using the Pro theme, so you can go to Pro > Headers and select your header in question and use the Navigation Collapsed element to achieve the result you want.
But please consider if you want to show it only for mobile viewports you need to use the Hide During the Breakpoint option.
