Migrating Pro 1 to Pro 2

Hello ThemeCo,
We are migrating multiple websites from Pro 1.2.7 to Pro 2.0.3.

The header seems to lose a lot of alignment, are there CSS classes/ids that aren’t converted that we should deal with upon upgrading?

See comparison.

Pro 2.0.4

Pro 1.2.7

Thank you!

Hi There,

Please try the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Ensure everything is up to date according to our version compatibility list here. Please follow the best practices when updating your theme and plugins. Click here for more information.
  2. If you’re using a CDN, please clear the CDN’s cache and disable optimization services.
  3. Test for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third-party plugins, and see if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.
  4. Reset your htaccess file by renaming it to .htaccess-bak. Then in WP Admin Menu, go to Settings > Permalinks and just click the Save Changes button.

If it doesn’t help, please provide us with login credentials(by clicking on the Secure Note button at the bottom) so we can take a closer look? To do this, you can make a post with the following info:

  • Link login to your site
  • WordPress Admin username / password

Thanks.

Thank you Thai,
I have tried the suggestions to the best of my comprehension without success.
I have attached a secure note to the first post with the website’s credentials and activated the theme.
There are two child themes, the activated one is Pro 2 and the other one is Pro 1, in case you’d like to activate Pro 1 to compare.

It’s a website under development.

Let us know if you find anything so we can smooth out the upgrade’s deployment to other websites using Pro.
Kind regards,
Vince

Hey Vince,

It looks like you have not installed Pro properly as you have two Pro menus under your admin menu which is not right.

Please give us FTP access so we could check your themes folder.

Thanks.

Hi Christian,
Thank you for the follow-up.

Good catch, maybe it’s our double child-theme that may be causing the issue.
We have attached a FTP access to the original secure note.

How can we have 2 different versions of a theme on the same WordPress for testing purposes?

Thank you for any feedback!

Hello there,

Yes, correct. It’s best to only have 1 Pro theme installed on your Wordpress site.

You can setup a multi site to be able to share same Wordpress installation with same plugins, but different media folder and database. To set this up, you need to create one subdomain for Pro 2 first. I suggest you contact your hosting provider to do this for you.

Here’s a tutorial on setting up a multi site.

Hope this helps.

Thank you Jumar,
We had the issue when the WordPress only had Pro 2 installed (which is why we reverted to Pro 1 and added Pro 2 as a clone). If that gives you any clue, good!

Otherwise, we will look into creating a staging area that only contains Pro 2 to provide you.

Thank you!

Hey @magikweb

To your question:

This is not possible so you will need a staging site.

Thanks.
