Although as you might notice, I have a second problem: the layout of the page of X OVERVIEW in the wordpress CMS seems scrambled. I wanted to attach a screenshot but I cannot here. Let me know how I can get you one.

I checked and can see you have incompatible version of xtheme and cornerstone.
X 5.2.5 should go with Cornerstone 2.1.7 - https://theme.co/changelog/
To resolve this, please update your theme and cornerstone to latest version.
X 6.2.2, Cornerstone 3.2.2

Thank you! It worked! I had to go to THEMES and click update on X. And then go to my FTP and delete the folders of cornerstone after which I could reinstall visual composer. And now all is ok. Thank you!

Glad you sorted things out, just to clarify X needs the Cornerstone, so X will reinstall Cornerstone automatically with the compatible version.
