Megamenu Styling

I am looking to add a megamenu to my site since I will eventually have a list of about 50 items. I followed the instructions found at https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/features-megamenus/99, but the styling is not correct.

I would like to have a menu similar to the one found on the Renew-1 demo page under “Short codes.”

Do I need to create a “holder” page? If so, how do I add it without it linking?

Ultimately, I am looking for all of the state links be in the “second level sub” styling. I would prefer not to have anything in the “first level sub” styling. I am just trying to distribute the links so that a user does not have to scroll down to see them all.
