First of all I m very new to Wordpress. Before I buy a theme from themeforest, I reviewed the theme and it didnt look like a blog at all. But when I install a theme now it looks like a regular blog site :S How can I have a website like the one in preview?

You might be using the Ethos stack which is primarily used for blog websites.
You can try importing demo contents which you will have more options to choose from.
I got stumped with this when I first started using Wordpress as well. You might find you have to go in to your dashboard, then down the left hand side choose Settings -> Reading, and make sure ‘Home’ is set to your actual dedicated home page that you’ve created/imported from demo, otherwise by default it shows the last posts you’ve done.
