Live Preview Not Working

Hey,

In follow-up to https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/buddypress-4-2-0-breaks-cornerstone/55396/15

I have now created a staging site, please see secure note

Hi Kade,

I’ve accidentally activated the WooZone plugin for testing the plugin conflicts and the WordPress backend returns 500 error now. Can you please help me to disable it via FTP account? You just need to rename the WooZone plugin directory to woozone.old.

I’ve also figured out the issue. This issue happens when we activate the Activity Streams component of BuddyPress plugin. When I disabled this component the content builder is working fine:

But I couldn’t replicate this issue on my end. Can you also provide us with your FTP account of your staging so we can take a deeper look?

Thank you.

I have deactivated WooZone via FTP - loading now!

I have Youzer (which links into the Buddypress Activity stream) - so this could be a contributing factor here!

Will update secure note for staging FTP too.

Thanks for the assistance!

Hi Kade,

It seems that you have forgotten to update your FTP information. However if you test around the mentioned plugins, you should be able to isolate the issue as well.

Please make sure to clear all caches when testing your issue (https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-clear-your-cache-in-wordpress/).

Thanks!

I have updated FTP access for the dev site now!

Please try again

Hey Kade,

The issue is only happening in posts that are in Draft mode and the home page was set as the Activity Streams page in Settings > BuddyPress > Pages.

Though that is allowed, that is an unusual setup of BuddyPress. Please choose a different page for your Activity Streams. Otherwise, you’ll need to publish your posts and set them to Private mode while creating the content.

I’ll add this in our issue tracker though so that this case might be taken into account in the future.

Thanks.

Hey,

Thanks for the digging! Great that you’ve found the issue, but disappointed that this is an issue.

The activity feed MUST be my homepage and this isn’t actually a rare thing for a community website!?

Publishing, then setting a post to private mode is not an acceptable work-around in this set-up unfortunately. Would be anything other than productive!

Surely this would be a bug in the page builder?

Really do appreciate the assistance, but this is a major limitation and now it’s forcing me to look for another PB solution after 5 years of X :frowning:

Thanks anyway,
Kade.

Hi Kade,

My colleague have added this to our issue tracker but there is no reply yet from our web development team.
Kindly monitor our changelog to know if there are updates with regards to this issue.
