License transfer and design question

I would like to transfer a license from one of my sites to another. the first has a license, the second does not. I would also like to be able to transfer the style to the new domain and I don’t know how to do that, or if it is even possible.

Can you help me figure this out.

Hi @MichaelShook,

Thanks for reaching out.

You can simply go to your License page here in Apex, and assign a new URL to that license by (1) clicking the pen icon, (2) enter the new URL, and (3) hit enter.

Then log-in to that new site and validate it, and that’s it, your license is now validated for the new site

As for transferring style, it would be hard to answer since we’re not sure how you designed and style it. But if you’re just referring to Theme Options styling, then you can go to Admin > X or Pro > Validation > Theme Options Manager (source site) and hit export.

Then in your new site in the same place (Admin > X or Pro > Validation > Theme Options Manager), import the exported files. Then the layout and styling options will be imported.

But, if you’re referring to the complete design (identical) but with just different content then I recommend contacting a developer as the transfer isn’t automatic, and could be part by part and one at a time.

Thanks!

Thank you, the license transfer part seems pretty simple. As with styling, I think I asked the wrong question. I can export the xcs file. I think my question is when I license transfer, will i still be able to see teh pages in cornerstone that I want to copy from the old site to the new one?

Hello There,

Yes you can still see the pages in Cornerstone. Actually when you revoke the validation, you will only lose the ability to receive updates and that you cannot install the bundled plugins.

If you copy the page from the old site to another site, you must make sure that you make the page as a Cornerstone page template, download the template and import it to your new site as a Cornerstone page template. For more details, you can check out “Working with templates” section in this article: https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/cornerstone-content-builder-layout/122 and check out more about the template manager here: https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/template-manager/20364/1

And if you are migrating or moving your site from a staging url or old url to a new url, you must follow the correct migrate process so that you can preserve the Cornerstone data and be able to edit the pages back in Cornerstone. Please check this out: https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/cornerstone-content-builder-migration/126/1

Hope this helps.

This information really helps a lot. I do have some templates set up I would like to use on the new domain. Thank you.

You’re most welcome!
We’re glad we were able to help you out.
