License in local host

I have validated my X license on my website, but I CANNOT get it to validate on the localhost site. This is driving me crazy, because one of the plugins I need to use won’t work because it keeps coming back with the error that the theme isn’t licensed. This is for work, so it’s costing me valuable time to my client! Please HELP!!! I’ve tried the things listed in the forum. Turning the wp-config error code to true.

Hello @Simus51,

Thanks for asking.

Please use the staging environment under licence manager to validate localhost setup. https://cl.ly/1b0H1g253u0v

You may also have to setup a virtual host. Here is a resource that you can take a look.

However, rather then manually creating virtual hosts a better alternative is Desktopserver software. I am sharing the link, please take a look.

Thanks.

I was working on MAMP and deleted it to download Desktop server onto my Mac. Now I can’t get the Server to download. It says there is a server already running, even though I emptied the trash. Why was Desktop Server any different than MAMP or a virtual host? Don’t they all do the same thing?

Hello @Simus51,

Thanks for updating the thread.

As the relevant details was not shared that you were using MAMP that’s why I suggest XAMPP and Desktopserver. More or less they all do the same job, USP lies in the ease of use, features and configurations. A problem with free version of MAMP is that you need to create virtual host’s manually and with Desktopserver, you kind of don’t have to configure anything and it comes with WordPress installer (3 installations max in free version).

Thanks.

No worries. I think I did understand that I was avoiding creating virtual host manually. It looked complicated. I already downloaded Desktopserver on my son’s computer and it was so easy. I notice that I still have MySql on here. Could that be what is causing problems for Desktopserver?
Thanks

Hello @Simus51,

Thanks for updating the thread.

To avoid complications and conflicts, I suggest you to remove existing server applications from system and run either MAMP or Desktop Server, depending on your choice.

Thanks.

Did that. I spent hours on that!. Finally gave up and am using my son’s computer w a clean install of Desktop Server. Got the website put on there. Inputted my license code–no go. The plugin I’m trying to test won’t let me use it w an unlicensed theme. So I’m really stuck here. I promised my bosses I would have it done this weekend. I had no idea I would have all of these problems, just getting the theme activated. I am so frustrated!

Hello There,

Thanks for the updates. Did you created a virtual hostname in your localhost? Please use that virtual host name and assign the license to that virtual hostname. The validation will check the license if it is assigned to the correct hostname. You can assign the license in your account (https://theme.co/apex/licenses).

And if still it won’t validate, you may have validation connection issues. Please check out this knowledge base article for more troubleshooting tips: https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/troubleshooting-validation-connection-issues/201

Hope this helps.
