Latest Theme? Not Working

It’s been over 2 years since I logged into one of my websites using X Theme. In the theme editor it shows version 3 (see below), but online it shows that there’s a version 5.0. How do I upgrade? Do I have to uninstall the theme and re-install the new version, if so, will I lose everything?

Technically you should be able to update it and have it work just fine. I would strongly suggest (or demand) you make a backup of the entire site first, however, so that if something goes wrong you can revert. Alternatively, if your host supports staging environments, push the site there and do all the upgrades in a staging environment. v3 to v5 is a large jump, so the possibility of glitches is a little higher than normal.

Hi There,

As you are using a fairly old version at this time you will need to perform a manual update.

  1. Revoke your License from X Addons section (check the bottom of the page) and also remove it from your license page on Themeco.

  1. Temporary disable any caching plugins and purge all your server cache.

  2. Delete both X theme (/wp-content/themes/x) and Cornerstone plugin (/wp-content/plugins/cornerstone) by connecting to your FTP (your settings will be saved in the database)

  3. Download the latest copy of X and upload it to your themes folder via FTP OR you can upload the x.zip via Appearance -> Themes section.

  4. Latest version of Cornerstone will be installed automatically when you head over X tab of your dashboard. Now you try validating your X theme again and then try to install any other extension and it should function properly.

Let us know how it goes.
Thanks
