Latest post displayed like feature list

Hi,

I’m trying to do something that I think it should be very simple but since grids are fashion I can’t find how to do it.

What I want is to display the latest posts in a layout like feature list. Please see example in the screenshot attached.

Many thanks

Hi Iciar,

Thanks for writing in! For a grid based solution, you can check Essential grid plugin and The Grid plugin that comes as extensions with X theme. You can refer to the respective documentation as follows.

The other solution that comes with X theme is the recent post short-code, which you can see examples from the following link (http://demo.theme.co/integrity-1/shortcodes/recent-posts/).

Thanks!

Hi @mldarshana,

Thanks for your help.

I had already checked the options you are giving me, but they all seem to display the text on top or bottom of the image. What I need is to display it aside the image.
If there is an option to do that on the plugins you mention I can’t find it.

Could you please, point me in the right direction?

Many thanks

Iciar

Hi Iciar,

If you are using the Ethos stack, your blog page posts will be displayed like the screenshot you have indicated on your initial post just like this:

http://demo.theme.co/integrity-1/

To do that, you will have to create a page then set it as the post page in WP Admin > Settings > Reading > a static page

If you are using a different stack and you wish to change its blog page structure, regretfully, this particular customization request is outside the scope of our support as this is not related to an issue with the theme. As such, you will need to investigate this particular issue on your own or seek help from a developer should you not feel comfortable making these changes yourself.

Thank you for your understanding.

Hi @Jade,

Thanks for your quick response.

I’m using Ethos, and have set on reading as you said. However, shortcodes still display latest posts with text at the bottom of the image.
Maybe I have a wrong setting somewhere else?

Hi again,

I think I see where the confusion is. You are talking about the blog page, I meant in the home page, where I would like to show last 3 posts. Like in Ethos homepage, http://demo.theme.co/ethos-1/

Any idea?

Many thanks

Hi Iciar,

Thanks for the clarification. You are referring to the Recent Post shortcode/element that has a default styling just like what you are seeing right now. There are several options you can use for the recent post element/shortcode such as having the posts displayed vertically but the featured image will always be above the title and the post date:

http://demo.theme.co/integrity-1/shortcodes/recent-posts/

Also, the recent post shortcode/element does not have the excerpt by default. You can add it by following the suggestion in this thread:

Now, to change the layout of the posts that are displayed by the recent post element, that would require some customization that can be done through CSS. Kindly get in touch with a developer if you are not sure how to proceed with the customization as it would require some custom codes to achieve the layout you are aiming for.

Hope this helps.

Thanks @Jade, I thought there was a way without having to hardcode, I will stick to normal grid then.

Thanks again.

Regards.

You’re welcome!
We’re glad @Jade were able to help you out in explaining it.
