Keep getting 404 in the content builder

In Pro (v. 2.3.6), whenever i click on Layout, Elements or Inspector i now land on a 404 page.
I haven’t done anything unsusual new to the theme/page outside of the editor, nor have i any new plugins installed.
I have reset the Permalinks in Settings (as mentioned in another thread), but that didn’t help.

What can i do to fix this?

Hello Max,

Thanks for asking.

Please follow up the steps below:

  1. Ensure everything is up to date according to our version compatibility list here. Please follow the best practices when updating your theme and plugins. Click here for more information.
  2. If you’re using a CDN, please clear the CDN’s cache and disable optimization services.
  3. Test for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third-party plugins, and see if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.
  4. Remove custom CSS and Javascript from the options or Child Theme and test the case.
  5. Reset your htaccess file by renaming it to .htaccess-bak. Then in WP Admin Menu, go to Settings > Permalinks and just click the Save Changes button.
  6. Increase the PHP Memory Limit of your server. Click here for more detailed information and how to increase the PHP memory limit.

If you still have problems kindly get back to us with the result of the steps above and URL/User/Pass of your WordPress dashboard using the Secure Note functionality of the post to follow up the case.

Thank you.

Thank you for your support.
Unfortunately, i cannot get across 5. because there seems to be no .htaccess (or similar named) file on my server! Maybe it somehow got deleteted an that’s causing the problem? How can i recreace (or find) it?

Hi Max,

I have re-generated your permalink settings, and then your Pro content builder is functioning properly (see secure note).

Basically to re-generate your htaccess file, all you have to do is to head over to Settings -> Permalinks section, then select the option postname and save the changes.

Hope that helps.
