Internet Explorer Issues in PRO

Hi,

I am having issues with my PRO site in internet explorer. Everything work fine in Chrome.

On the main site https://hadleylearningcommunity.org.uk

The Pro Header downdowns do not work (GDPR heading), the pro header video doesnt display, neither does the ticker text, the video a bit further down the page on the left gives you no controls to play it and the font awesome icons are all missing. (these are in the footer)

Also on my subsite: https://hadleylearningcommunity.org.uk, the fonts are not google fonts and are replaced which ruins the look of the site and this is apparent in the revolution slider at the top which is on every page as a page banner.

I have not updated wordpress to 4.9.8 yet (im on 4.9.6) and also i’m not on the latest pro version of 2.2.5, i am on 2.1.6. I do not know if the updates will fix this and i can carry this out later but i need ot get all of the above working in IE as even though i do not like IE11, most people when viewing our site still use it including companies who have to assess our school.

I would appreciate your help with this as its pretty urgent. Thanks folks.

Just to add, i have checked and it works fine in Edge, Chrome and Firefox, just not IE 11.

Hi @King,

Thanks for reaching out.

I couldn’t find what’s causing this issue on IE, but, the x-active status is not being added to dropdown, hence, it’s not working. It could be related to javascript since these status are added through it.

I would recommend updating it since there are many fixes added in the latest version. Though, you should test it first in a staging. If your hosting has staging feature, then you can try that and we can update it there and test it. Else, you can use All in one migration plugin to export to clone your site and import it on another Wordpress installation (sub-folder or sub-domain). Please check this https://wpshout.com/quick-guides/all-in-one-wp-migration/ (not switching host, but just need to migrate a copy).

Thanks!

Hi @Rad , sorry for the delay. Basically i made a full backup of my site, then i updated my site PHP to 7.1 as it was still on v5.6 and thought it really needed doing. I then updated Wordpress to 4.9.8 and finally PRO to 6.2.5 and it seems to have done the trick. I needed to add a few extra things here and there but its looking better now. Some of the font awesome icons disappeared but i had feedback on that from another post and i was informed that they grouped the icons in FA version 5 so i need to amend my code for them which i will start doing. Thanks for your help mate

Can i just ask one other thing. I never set up a child theme on my site because i didnt know at the time. Is it a case of installing the child theme but having to check each one of my pages for any added css and painfully copy it all over?

thanks again.

Hi,

No need to copy over the css. The css that you added in Cornerstone > CSS or in Theme Options > CSS are saved in the database and will not disappear when you install a child theme,

Please refer to the link below for your guide on how to setup a child theme

https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/setup-how-to-setup-child-themes/57

Hope that helps

Thanks @paul.r Do you still recommend switching to the child theme although i have no plans on making any changes to the php files etc outside of cornerstone?

Hey There,

Child themes are highly recommended when you want to modify theme files and override certain theme functions and features. If you do not have any of this things, I guess it would be safe for you if you do not install and use a child theme.

Best Regards.
