Images on homepage dissapeared

I assume there has been some sort of update and I can see that X theme 7.1 is avaiable and there is no option to update it to this version. This will almost certainly be the cause of the problem but please can I have some advise on how to fix this.

Hi Kev,

Thank you for reaching out to us. I checked your setup and I see you’ve WP Rocket’s lazy load feature enabled, this could be causing the issue, first try clearing all the caches and then disable the WP Rocket’s lazy load option along with WP Rocket plugin and see if this resolves the issue.

If the issue remains then update both X and Cornerstone to their latest versions. Navigate to Dashboard > Updates page and click on Check Again button:

This should make the theme update available, if you still don’t see the update then manually update both X and Cornerstone, please see the Manual Updates section here https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/setup-updating-your-themes-and-plugins/62

Let us know how this goes!

So I updated X theme and the problem has got a lot worse. I have cleared my CDN Cache and local Cache but now I cannot see any images and my sliders have broken as well.

Any thoughts?

I have disabled lazy loading and all of the specialised compression WP Rocket does to see if this helped but it has not

Hello Kev,

Since nothing is helping, please provide us access to your site so that we can check your settings and resolve it for you. Please create a secure note with the following info:
– Link to your site
– WordPress Admin username / password

To know how to create a secure note, please check this out: https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/how-to-get-support/288

Thanks.

OK so ive done that. Just to let you know, if you are signed into WP then the page loads perfectly fine. If you are in incognito or another device that is not signed in then this is when it does not work

Hello Kev,

The given user credentials do not work for us.
Please double check.

Meanwhile, I noticed that aside from using a minifying or caching plugin, I also found out that you are using CloudFlare. Right after your updates, please log in to your CloudFlare account and purge your site cache. You also need to regenerate the minified CSS and JS files in CloudFlare.

Hope this helps.

Sorry i missed a letter. i have purged everything on cloudflare

Hi Jade,

Thank you for providing the login information. I checked the website and now I can confirm that the problem is the cache and using the traditional methods of purging them using the wp-rocket plugin does not work.

Here is how I tested the case:

I went to the admin section and checked X > Validation and indeed the latest version is installed:

There is a trick that I can check if the latest version is actually shown on the front end of the website. I checked the front end while I was logged in and enabled the Google Chrome Developer Toolbar and checked the HTML body tag classes.

The X theme and the Cornerstone plugin echo the version number there. Upon checking I found out that the latest version is loaded and everything worked correctly:

Then I did another test. I opened up the Incognito Window of the Chrome browser and loaded the website. So in this case, I was not logged in, and the front end did not show correctly. Then I used the same method, and surprize surprize the code that is loaded is old enough to be 100% sure it will not work!

Now that we know exactly the problem cause, it comes how to go about and fix it. Unfortunately, we are not the experts on the methods that you used to cache the website and it will be better that you contact WP Rocket and CloudFlare support. Also, contacting your hosting service provider also might help as they have better control over the server and maybe they can help.

You can share my insight with the support staff of the third-party services to help them understand the case.

Thank you.
