Help: [an error occurred while processing this directive]

I am trying to edit headers, content or footers and get this message. License is valid, all plugins, wordpress and themes are updated and I tried clearing cache, deleting htaccess and saved permalinks (which was everything I could find on the forums).

What else can I try?

Hi @mironkedz,

Thanks for reaching out.

Have you changed some of your file’s permission, I can’t provide any specific instructions as I’m not sure what was recently changed on your site. But please check this https://stackoverflow.com/questions/9951637/an-error-occurred-while-processing-this-directive

Then contact your hosting provider and have the permissions fixed and corrected back.

If you created custom rewrites with .htaccess files on root folder and sub-folders then make sure to remove them and re-save the Admin > Settings > Permalinks to let it generate a new .htaccess file. Make sure to back up your exisitng .htaccess file before deleting it.

Thanks!

Hi Rad,

Thanks for your reply. We recently migrated the site from one host to another because of name change so we got a new license for PRO and activated it successfully. I did the .htaccess routine by deleting it and saving on permalinks to create a new one. All other site features work fine except the ability to use the pro theme. Godaddy said permissions are standard and look good. Not sure where to go from here…

Thanks,

Hi There @mironkedz

First of all, please make sure that you have migrated your site correctly bu following this guide (https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/cornerstone-content-builder-migration/126/1).

Here’s a similar issue which was resolved by another customer (https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/cannot-edit-home-page-preview-could-not-load/53680/6), could you please review that thread and see if that helps.

Also you can see some standard troubleshooting steps that you can follow here (https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/an-error-occurred-while-processing-this-directive/19929/2?u=mldarshana).

Please make sure to clear all caches before testing. You can refer to the following resource if required (https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-clear-your-cache-in-wordpress/).

If you’re still having issues, provide us with your WordPress login credentials along with your FTP credentials in a secure note to check your issue further.

Thanks!

I sent over a securenote with WP creds. Please help when you can.

Thanks

Hello @mironkedz,

Please contact your web host technical support and ask them to whitelist the /pro directory and made a few other changes to the account and plugins in general. That should resolved the problem.

Please let us know how it goes.

Hi Ruenel:

Hosting said:

I check the files and everything is okay actually.

But basically we don’t block like any content in your cPanel as well, so like there’s nothing to be whitelisted. May I know like the goal though why it needs to be done like that ?

They also said this:

I see, I checked this with our Advanced Hosting as well to make sure and they said that everything is good on our end. They suggest that it’s on your Wordpress itself or the theme.

What they advice is like contacting the Theme Developer itself. I tried searching online as well and some suggest to like reinstall the theme.

Hi @mironkedz,

There are some server configuration issues going on that your host will need to resolve. When I tried logging in it just redirected me to the login page (but the authentication cookie is set). If I directly navigate to cmg.team/wp-admin afterwards it simply sends me a file called “download” and it contains the actual WordPress PHP code.

This is usually related to incorrect file permissions on your WordPress installation. Incorrect permissions might be what caused the original problem.

Here’s the information from WordPress about how to configure file permissions: https://wordpress.org/support/article/changing-file-permissions/

Your webhost should be able to help you get those corrected.

Hi Alexander,

Do you know what changes you or Ruenel made after I gave access? We did not have this issue at all and I was able to get to the login page and all parts of the WP pages… but now I too get the download file…

Thanks,

Hello,

I cleared cache on my browser and I am able to get in now with no problems. I am on hold with godaddy level 2 that said they might be able to assist unless someone can login using the creds I provided and help me out.

Thanks,

Hi There @mironkedz

I’m sorry to hear that you’re still having this issue. X/Pro themes are well tested on most of the common web hosting platforms and it is working out of the box, if the WordPress and hosting configurations are setup correctly.

Though we do not provide hosting support, If you can send your hosting control panel access along with your FTP credentials in a secure note, we should be able to provide more information about your issue.

Thanks!
