Header/footer went vertical from horizontal with update

I have disable header but you can see it in footer http://leroysautocare.net/

Hey there,

Please check for the following first:

  1. Ensure everything is up to date according to our version compatibility list at https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/troubleshooting-version-compatibility/195

  2. Clear all caches including browser cache then deactivate your caching plugins and other optimization plugins.

  3. If you’re using a CDN, please clear the CDN’s cache and disable optimization services.

  4. Test for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

  5. Remove custom CSS, Javascript and templates.

Thanks.

Done all that. Nothing changed

Hi There,

Is there a chance that you give the wrong link above? You said with update but the site you provided above is in Wordpress 4.7 the latest version of Wordpress is 4.8.1.

The X Theme you have is outdated and the Cornerstone too and the Visual Composer as well. Please clarify what update you’re referring to.

What I can advice for now is do a testing for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

You can also try deactivating and deleting the Cornerstone, then re-install it.

If the site under a caching plugin or any caching feature, please purge and deactivate it for now while you troubleshot this issue.

Let us know how it goes,
Thanks.

Strange. this is what it says:
X Installed Version 5.1.1
You have the latest version of WordPress. 4.8.1
Cornerstone Version 2.0.6
WPBakery Visual Composer Version 5.2.1

I deactivated cornerstone, and reactivated… don’t have the files handy to delete and reinstall. Can you point me to that?

Thanks

Hey There,

Would you mind providing us with login credentials so we can take a closer look? Please provide following information:

Set it as Secure Note

  • Link to your site
  • WordPress Admin username / password

All the best!

Hi There,

Thank you for the credentials, what you have now are two different Wordpress installation this http://leroysautocare.net/ the one is old that I am referring to on my previous reply.

And this http://leroysautocare.net/new is the updated one.

Navigate to Settings > General and change both WordPress Address and Site Address to http://leroysautocare.net/new

Reminders, backup your database before you do this.

We need to resolve this first before your footer issue as this might be the cause of that issue.

Cheers!

But I want the site to display as http://leroysautocare.net/ to the visitor not http://leroysautocare.net/new … I am not seeing two different installs, how are you seeing two diff installations? I do have the old site but I can retire that directory if that is causing the problem

Sorry for the confusion. I logged in and saw that you’re using this setup:

And, I saw that everything is indeed updated. But after logging out, your site is still using the old version.

This tells us that some caching is going on here. Did you use a caching plugin before? If so, please contact the caching plugin provider to completely remove it from your system. If not, your host might have an internal caching system. Please contact them to clear all caches.

Thanks.

Ok thanks you have helped identify something for me that is an issue… Thanks I will get back on this with anything else I might need.

Hi There,

Yup, that could be a caching issue. Let us know how it goes.

But why would you setup your WordPress Address (URL) to this:

screenshot

If your site is http://leroysautocare.net? you see that is causing an issue because your site is pulling resources from http://leroysautocare.net/new/ which does not exist.

I thought http://leroysautocare.net/new/ is your dev site (different installation) and you’re updating it first that is why it has the updated version.

Thank you,

Fixed. Thanks for the diagnostics

We’re delighted to assist you with this.

Cheers!
