When transferring a site between a test domain and a live domain, I am experiencing a near total loss of formatting.

Is there any way I should be exporting content differently? There really are no places to set how things are exported, so I’m not sure how to handle these errors in display.

That didn’t seem to do anything, as the instructions were not completely current to the plugin, but also were for X and not Pro. I used Pro to build the site…does that change things?

Pro theme is actually an upgraded X theme. They share the same settings and most features. Migrating from one site to another has no difference. You should be doing it the same way. I was wondering, how did you transfer your site from the test domain to a live domain by the way? Please be advised that a copy and paste will not just work. You will have to do the migration properly or at least use a 3rd party plugin like All in One Migrate or WP Migration plugin. I started by using the WP export tool in conjunction with Pro’s export tool. When that didn’t work, I tried to use FTP to upload the site over the one that was functioning improperly. When that created a worse problem, and I had a backup restored to fix it, and I’m back to where the original problem arose. Even when exporting and importing the header and footer as templates on their own, they STILL don’t work. Why is that?
I will also note that, in addition to the various import/export functions seemingly not doing what is expected of them, I can’t even manually rebuild what was on the test site. While all settings are the same, they are not displaying properly, and this is probably the biggest issue related to everything mentioned before.

Based on your description of how you imported and based on the result, you did not migrate your site properly. Importing templates won’t work because your live site is not working in the first place.
The article @RueNel referred you to is still currently applicable whether you’re using Pro or X and Cornerstone. Please empty your live site and then repeat the migration again. This time, follow the instructions carefully. Please follow it step by step.
Please also document the steps you took or record everything using a screencast tool like this so we could see where the issue is.
Also give us WordPress Admin and FTP access to your live and staging sites so we could check after you have done re-migrating your site.

I’'l try that if I have to, but I can’t seem to understand why there even are import and export tool is they’re dependent on 3rd party plugins to work efficiently. I think that’s worth noting for future update cycles.
I’m realizing, though, that once again it seems this may not be the core issue. For the header and footer, no matter what settings i change, it seems they do not change anything. Margins, colors, etc. do not change no matter how much editing is done. Is there a way to fix this without having to strip the whole site down? A total rebuild is really not a reasonable option for me.
