Gravity forms won't render in Cornerstone

X theme 7.0.4
Cornerstone 4.0.4

I get an error when editing any page in Cornerstone where I have a gravity form embedded.
“This element could not render due to invalid markup. You may have unclosed html tags in your content.”

The forms still work fine on the front end, but I am unable to see any elements in the cornerstone editor to make changes on the backend. https://www.dropbox.com/s/2tsyr1ws7r3nump/Gravity%20forms%20wont%20render%20in%20cornerstone.png?dl=0

If I disable gravity forms plugin I can edit other elements on the page, and then turn gravity forms back on when I’m done so I have a hack as a workaround at least. https://www.dropbox.com/s/5rfuxrqld94t7wb/Cornerstone%20with%20gravity%20forms%20deactivated.png?dl=0

I did reach out to gravity forms support today already with this issue. Their only recommendation is to build the pages in native wordpress publishers and tools {eyeroll} - anything beyond that they said the provider of the theme would be responsible for other breaking changes…so here I am.

Hello @kevinwenning,

Thanks for writing in!

The gravity form may not display a preview in the Cornerstone preview pane. Could you please deactivate your SiteGround Optimizer plugin and test your site again? If nothing is helping, we would like to access your site so that we can check your settings. Please create a secure note with the following info:
– Link to your site
– WordPress Admin username / password

To know how to create a secure note, please check this out: https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/how-to-get-support/288

Cheers.

No change with the Siteground optimizer plugin off. And it’s not just the gravity form itself that won’t render. None of the other cornerstone elements on the page will show either so I can’t edit anything on the page unless I disable gravity forms.

Hi @kevinwenning,

I can see the issue. I did some investigation and found no invalid html. I only found some curly quotes but even after converting it to regular quotes, the issue exist. Since you have confirm the root is gravity form, would you mind downgrading to the version of the plugin that is compatible with the theme? Please try using gravity form 2.4.6. The version of the plugin you were using is still not tested for compatibility.

Let us know how this goes.
