Google tracking code issue

Hello, I am trying to add a tracking code snippet to the “header php” file, and I am not sure If I am doing this correctly. My “x child theme” file doesn’t have a “header php” file (which is where they say to put the tracking code in). So assuming im doing this correctly and putting it in the the main x header php file, this is the code I have entered, and it keeps telling me I have a syntax error. I know i probably have a letter or something simple missing that is preventing me from moving forward. I was wondering if any of you could take a quick look at what I have been pasting and potentially correct it for me, thank you.

Hi Brian,

Thanks for writing in! You can use a plugin like this (https://wordpress.org/plugins/insert-headers-and-footers/) or this (https://wordpress.org/plugins/duracelltomi-google-tag-manager/) to implement your google code.

If you prefer to implement without any plugins, please follow this thread (https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/google-tag-right-after-body/47132).

Hope that helps.
