That code type (gtag) worked perfectly for another website that is not wordpress. I took the snippet as you see it and added it to the head> and the analytics was working the very next day so…
Also this new global tracking code is the only one google provides. I have asked for answers on Google forum but I fail to see why the snippet worked perfectly for another site but not when I use X theme and the Google Analytics plugin? Surely it is an issue with the extension?
And as I stated previously the extension is altering the code when I try to update it. It removes the script> tags around https that is why it keeps showing on the site. Why is the extension changing my code when I click update?
UPDATE
Okay so a Google Partner on the advertisers community just informed me that the global tag is in fact the new way of tracking analytics in Google.
I think the issue is because the X analytics extension changes this code when I hit update. See for yourself, take the snippet I provided you, input into my analytics extension and hit update. You will note the tags and the async around the https://www.googletagmanager.com/gtag/js?id=UA-112849077-2 are removed for some reason.
