Feature request: Shortcode Wrapper

Hi guys!

I am not sure if you do have this on the roadmap or not, but with competition coming out with these type of solutions I figured I’d initiate a talk about it.

Basically it is a kind of Content area element, which accepts other elements to be dragged into it. It’s options can be similar to Content area element, with addition of the ability to enter the shortcode. This would immensely improve theme’s compatibility with Membership plugins, for example. (Right now a workaround is to do everything in Global Blocks, and then wrap GB’s shortcode into any other shortcode).

X/Pro has a chance to go a step further, and utilize the Template Manager, where we could organize and name shortcodes, and then simply select them in the Shrotcode Wrapper element’s drop-down. How cool is that?

Added bonus would be the ability to use the same element for wrapping stuff with HTML5 semantic elements, but shortcodes alone are already great!

Thanks!

Hello @Misho,

Thanks for writing in! Have you tried adding a shortcode in the Content Area element? That element will definitely accepts a shortcode and can be used as your shortcode container then you can drag it to a column. Any html5 elements can be added in the content area element too.

Please check it out.

Hi @RueNel!

Sure, but then you cannot drag an element into it. Content Area accepts only html and shortcodes. So if you want to surround a v2 heading, text and a button with a shortcode, you’d have to place those into a Global block first.

That’s time consuming and quickly creates lots of various global blocks, even for things that should be displayed only once, not globally.

A good scenario is the need to display different content and menus for Members/Logged-in users.

A shortcode Wrapper is an elegant solution.

Thanks!

Hey @Misho,

Thanks for sharing the idea of the shortcode wrapper. I have added this as a feature request so our developers can will know more about the idea and it can be taken into consideration for future development.

Best Regards.
