Feature Request - Pro - Mobile Menu 'active click' sub-link functionality

Hi Team

Just adding this as a feature request as suggested in a separate thread.

Currently there’s no workaround yet to allow for the top menu item (if sub-menu available) in a Pro Header to be “active” on second click on Mobile, so that it goes to a page. Or even the sub-indicator allowing the dropdown, and the word clicking through into the page.

Currently it only drops down the sub menu and you can’t click through into the page via Mobile/Touch/Tablet.

Option to use MegaMenu, but then there’s plugin load, customisation requirements etc.

Cheers,
Sam

Hello,

I just wanted to chime in here to provide a little more context. When creating our v2 elements for the header builder, this was a concession purposefully introduced to the Anchor element used for all navigations due to the potential confusion that can arise from having a top level link that is both meant to be navigated to and a trigger for sub navigation. We encouraged others to avoid this as a best practice as it can certainly be confusing, and you will find on most large sites that have large teams managing sitewide design and navigation, this pattern is often not introduced. Take Stripe’s website for example, which does not have a link on navigation items with submenus:

That being said, we certainly understand this is a desirable feature for some websites where the pattern is unavoidable. We currently have this noted down to be investigated as we move through our continued v2 element refactors, and will likely be handled more towards the end as it will be a rather large undertaking to introduce with wide-ranging implications across current sites, so we definitely want to approach it with care and attention to detail.

For now, you can move forward knowing it is noted down as something we plan to investigate, but we don’t have a particular timeline as the refactoring of v2 elements is somewhat flexible due to unforseen issues that often arise when re-mapping in elements and getting it into the new system. We thank you for your patience while we diligently move forward in considering this and crafting an appropriate solution.

Cheers!
