In an old made new very large sprawling magazine site we are using Ethos and Post Slider for Archive. The options are ‘Most Commented’, ‘Random’ and ‘Featured’ posts to show and how many. Some of those random posts go way back to 2006. How do we show random posts in current year, please?

This is not an option offered in Ethos and would require custom development. I could point you to the file you need to edit along with some resource to guide you with customization. Please open the links below.
The file you need to override is _post-slider.php located in **wp-content\themes\x\framework\views\ethos**.
In that file you’ll see the array for the random option. You need to add the date parameter to it.
