Error with The Grid instagram feed

Hello,

There seems to be an issue with the whole website breaking when using The Grid to display the Instagram feed. However, removing the Instagram feed or deleting the instagram account source seems to fix the issue.

Does the Grid plugin need to be patched to fix this issue? We’re running the instagram feed using The Grid on a number of our sites and would like to have this issue resolved as soon as possible.

Thank you,

FBC

Hi Michael,

Thanks for writing in! First of all, please make sure that you’re using the latest version of The Grid plugin on your site. The latest X/Pro compatible version is 2.7.1 as listed here (https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/troubleshooting-version-compatibility/195).

Also if you’re using any older version of X theme or Cornerstone plugin, you need to update them as well to the latest version by following our guide here (https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/setup-updating-your-themes-and-plugins/62).

Also please make sure to clear all caches before testing, once you update your theme or plugins. You can refer to the following resource if required (https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-clear-your-cache-in-wordpress/).

If you’re still having issues, provide us with your WordPress login credentials in a secure note to check your issue further.

Hope that helps.

We have version 2.7.1 installed and are up to date on everything - this issue started after the Facebook and Instagram worldwide issue on March 14th and now the plugin no longer feeds in the IG account, and kills the page. I have a bunch of sites afflicted and will send details along for one of them. We also removed the username from the Source settings in The Grid, which resolves the issue with the page not loading, and then tried placing a hashtag instead but it won’t even show that content.

Thanks,
Michael

Hi Michael,

I couldn’t replicate this issue on my end. I was able to use the username to fetch all the Instagram posts:

  • Please increase the PHP Memory Limit of your server. Click here for more detailed information and how to increase the PHP memory limit.
  • Also test for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third-party plugins, and see if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

Let us know how it goes!
