Error "The preview was unresponsive after loading. This is most often related to a plugin conflict or aggressive page cacheing."

Hi guys,

I get this error every time I try to update a page on mij website dechillfaktor.nl.
For over a week I cannot change pages and I need to update my website urgently. I looked for solutions here at the forum, but cannot find any appropraite.

Can someone from Envato please help me out, I really need to updte some information! Thanks!!

(Error says “The preview was unresponsive after loading. This is most often related to a plugin conflict or aggressive page cacheing.”. I tried emptying cache, reload, etc but I cannot access the page to update the content. Sometimes I see that the page is loaded in the background, but then I cannot access the content as the screen with the error cannot be clicked away )

Edit: I also experience this problem when I try to create a new page. I simply cannot add or change elements ;(

Hi There,

Thanks for writing in! I can certainly understand your frustrations here. Let’s try to isolate your issue here.

First install the following plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-serverinfo/) then head over to Dashboard -> WP-Serverinfo and check the following server configurations.

  • PHP (We recommend to use PHP v5.6.x or higher version like 7.0 or 7.1)
  • PHP Memory Limit (512MiB recommended)
  • PHP Max Script Execute Time (120 or higher)

You can contact your hosting provider to increase or update any of the above configurations. To increase memory, you can refer to the following guide (https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/troubleshooting-increasing-php-memory-limit/16935).

If you’re still having issues, try to disable your 3rd party plugins. Then you can re-generate your permalinks settings by head over to Settings -> Permalinks section and selecting the option postname.

Also I suggest you to go through our official troubleshooting guide here (https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/troubleshooting-builder-preview-warnings/14404).

Let us know how it goes.
Thanks!

Hi,

I installed the plugin and it says:

  • php v7.0.27
  • PHP Memory Limit 1.024,0 MiB
  • PHP Max Script Execute Time 600s

So I meet all demands there. My permalinks are on option “postname”, so that is a check.

I really hope that a bug fix is in the next release of X-theme. I have several websites with a licensed X-theme and I feel I can expect your support in fixing this bug (instead of me fixing all kinds of memory-issues at my Hosting-party). Can you maybe tell me more about a possible bug-fix for this issue?

Hi Peter,

I see you met all the requirements which is a good sign. You can also try enabling WP_DEBUG mode and WP_DEBUG_LOG to see if you’re getting any errors. You can follow this guide here for that (https://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/debugging-wordpress-how-to-use-wp_debug/).

If you can wait couple of days, you can test your site with the latest release. Or else post your WordPress and FTP credentials in a secure note to take a closer look.

Thanks!
