Error message: Conflict on the front end of your site has prevented the preview from loading

Hi there. After upgrading to the latest X theme version and WP updates and transitioning to https:// from http:// the error message below shows when trying to edit site pages

A conflict on the front end of your site has prevented the preview from loading

It is true that when I deactivate the Super Simple SSL plugin, that I am then able to edit the pages. Unfortunately though when deactivating the plugin, I can no longer keep the site secure (newly created pages and media uploads all come in as http://). When I reactivate the plugin, I can’t edit the pages in Cornerstone.

I admittedly am not adept to even know how to get to (or what to do with) any wp-config or PHP type pages to change things, if that’s even what’s necessary.

I do not have any plugins running for cache or security. and do not have CloudFlare installed.
My Wordpress URL and my site URL are both https:// under settings, so that’s not the issue.

I also just spent 2.5 hours with GDhosting over the phone and they can’t figure out why the conflict other than it’s something with the theme. Though they did ask what was the latest version of PHP that can be used with this theme (my site is only at version 5.4.) but he didn’t want to chance upgrading to a higher version if it was going to cause more conflict.

Is it possible you can take a closer look and debug what’s happening here?? I will send a secure message with log in info.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Hosting company believes something in Cornerstone/XTheme settings is conflicting with ssl. Is it possible someone can help with this issue?

Well got no answer from support over a 2 day period (while they answered lots of other questions during that period of time). I have always really valued the support X Theme has given me over the last few years. But I have to say…the lack of response here has been disappointing.

For those interested, it was a simple fix to increase PHP memory…went to 256 and it immediately solved the problem. Try that folks! Hope it helps.

Hey there,

Glad you’ve sorted it out. Regarding the delayed response, it is because you bumped your thread by posting additional comment. Next time, I recommend that you wait for reply first. See https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/how-to-get-support/288 for details.

Thanks.

Hi, I’m getting the same cornerstone error “A conflict on the front end of your site has prevented the preview from loading.” This happens when using cornerstone to edit any page. I’ve figured out that this is a https vs http problem. When logged into wp-admin, the URL is https. It won’t work and gives the error above. When I change the url to http, the page loads correctly. How do I get cornerstone to work with https? Any guidance would be appreciated.

Cornerstone works with https out of the box provided your ssl setup is correct. Please contact your host to check your ssl setup. Please also open a separate thread as the cause is different.

Thanks.

I did the following and then went back to Cornerstone and it works.

When you get the error. Exit cornerstone and navigate to the page you want to work on. Then hover over the X and click on “Theme Options”
After that, go back to the page and click “Edit Page.” Cornerstone loads fine.

Something happens by clicking on “Theme Options” that clears up the conflict.

Hope it works for you guys. I just tried it on two pages and doing this works each time.

and how do we fix this without tricks?

Hi @flashfog ,

I think it’s just a coincidence, and probably the cache is the one causing that conflict and it expired. Would you mind starting a new thread and provide your login credentials in a secure note? I’d love to check the issue you’re getting

Thanks!

absolutely… (since clearing cache didn’t fix).
THANKS

You are most welcome!
