Envira Gallery Caption Data wiped/missing

Hi X Theme.
I have a gallery which was showing captions when you hover over an image. All images had captions filled in and now all captions apart from the latest one are missing.

Here is the page: https://surreybirdclub.org.uk/sites-sightings/photographs/

And here you can see on the web archive that the captions used to be in place: https://web.archive.org/web/20190628210814/https://surreybirdclub.org.uk/sites-sightings/photographs/

I can put them all back in manually for my client but need to know how this occurred in order to prevent it happening again.

Can you help?

Thank you

Tamsin

Further to last, I can see that the image meta is present with the image in the media library but when I edit the image from within the envira gallery nothing shows, all the meta fields are blank. So it seems the envira gallery is not referring back to the media library source properly.

Further information again. There are other errors such as: if I remove an image and try to add it again it will not add.

In the console, these errors are showing:
JQMIGRATE: Migrate is installed, version 1.4.1
jquery-migrate.min.js:2:542

I hope that helps and that you can help me resolve this.

Hi Tamsin,

Thank you for writing in, is there any new/updated plugin you install before this issue happen? please do the following;

  • Ensure that you are fully up to date. WordPress, Theme, and Envira Gallery (Version Compatibility)

  • Clear all the site caches (plugin, server-side, CDN, and browser’s cache) so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors. Please deactivate this caching features while we tackle this issue.

  • Test for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

If nothing works please provide us login credentials in a secure note so we can take a closer look.

Cheers!

I have updated everything, WP, theme and plugins.

I also tested with all plugins except envira gallery deactivated and the problem still existed.

I will provide login info and would greatly appreciate your help.

Thank you

To see the problem, go to the one gallery in Envira.

Click on the second image to edit it and you will see this with no image, no metadata.

If you go to the same image in the media library you can see the image and metadata, which should be showing when the gallery image is hovered over.

It does not seem to be possible to remove and reinsert the image into the gallery as any previously removed image will not insert.

I hope you can help.

Tamsin

Hi Tamsin,

Did you use a plugin that resize or optimize the images?

I tried to edit the gallery and it seems to work. I removed Black-Tailed Godwit image and put it back, it worked, and it automatically included the caption. Let us know how it goes in your end.

There was definitely something wrong with it, so I created a new gallery and put all the photos in with captions showing correctly. Then I tried to edit the page in pro to change the shortcode and just got the loading page for ages. Then I tried turning off all plugins to see if that would help and the site has crashed completely.

Are you able to offer any help or advice?

Something is very wrong with my site and X Pro. I have deleted and reinstalled the theme, turned all the plugins off. But I cannot get in to edit a page or header or content or theme options with pro. The loading symbol just goes on and on.

Also when I go to edit a page lots of short code shows, which doesn’t seem right.

I hope you can help resolve this issue with me.
Tamsin

Further to last, this happens even when I set x pro as the theme (not using the child theme).
I have also tried changing the config file to increase the php memory limit to 512mb but I still cannot load any of the pro pages.

Hello Tamsin,

I am another staff and I have logged in to your site. I edited the text envira gallery.
I could not replicate any issue. The change has been saved and displayed in the front end.

Please see the images in the secure notes.

You may need to clear your browser cache or use private browsing mode and test your site again.

Thank you. You have ignored the other problem of the pro editor not loading at all. I will start a new ticket for that.

Hey Tamsin,

Thanks for creating another thread. I tried to open a page in Cornerstone though and it did open successfully. Please post the URLs of the pages having loading issues in the separate thread.

Thanks.
