Edit with Cornerstone takes me to the live site

My site was just migrated from the staging to the live site. I also updated X theme and Cornerstone. Now I’m unable to access Cornerstone. When I click on Edit with Cornerstone, instead of taking me to the editors panel, I’m redirected to the live site for that page. I have deactivated all plugins, that didn’t resolve the issue. I am not using any caching plugins and have turned the site caching off for the time being. I have also cleared site cache and browser cache. It still isn’t working. Please help!

Hi Paula,

Thanks for writing in! I visited the live site and the first thing that grabbed my attention is that it’s broken (even just on the homepage).

Here’s how it looks on my end:

And there are about 60 assets (either images, JS files or CSS files) that cannot be found:

Also, I tried going to https://www.awaremeditation.com/wp-admin but I get redirected to https://box5327.temp.domains/~awaremed/newmeditation/wp-login.php?.

Now, these things happen due to migration. And primarily, the cause is that the URLs in the database have not been updated. Many are still pointing to the staging URL instead of the live URL.

To solve this, you’d need to do a Search and Replace. There are two ways to do it:

1.Repeat the migration process and do a Search and Replace during migration.

Some plugins, like WP All-in-One Migration allow you to enter your staging URL and the new live URL so that each time it sees the old staging URL, it will change it to the new live URL during migration.

2.Do the Search and Replace on the live site.

Assuming you can login to the live site’s admin (I cannot, though), please install the plugin named Better Search and Replace. Then you will need to replace all instances of the STAGING URL to the LIVE URL.

I found this resource online that will be able to help you: https://blog.templatetoaster.com/update-old-urls-in-database/. Now, it’s important that you keep a backup of your database first before doing any of the methods.

Thanks for your response. I’ve contacted the hosting company as they did the migration and apparently they really messed things up. We are going to re-migrate over the weekend and see how it goes. Thanks again for your help and I’ll let you know if we have any more issues with this once the migration is complete.
