Do I ever need to update the Pro child theme?

Is the Pro child theme provided by Themeco ever updated, or is it just the main/parent theme that needs to be updated?

There is no need to update Pro Child theme. Child theme inherits the functions of parent theme. You only need to update the parent theme which we release from time to time.
