Different sidebars on some, not all, pages

I’m starting a new topic because my last one here got confusing and then was eventually dropped.

I have set my X theme layout to be fullwidth site-wide and then content as content-left, sidebar-right.

My blog has the standard sidebar whilst bbpress has the bbpress sidebar.

As a default I’d like all my pages to not have a sidebar. At the moment some of my pages, despite being set to template full-width, are still displaying the sidebar, but underneath the content. See this for an example:

https://followtheboat.com/register/bosun/

This is a MemberPress Membership page template and allows editing of the content only.

  1. How do I remove the sidebar from this page?

Meanwhile I have an account page, which I created and then point to via the MemberPress plugin. I can’t post an example of this page as you can only see it when logged in as a member, but again there is a sidebar appearing below the content, just like the example above. This time I would like the sidebar to appear on the right, except this sidebar should be the bbpress sidebar.

2… How do I put a sidebar in and make it the bbpress sidebar on this page?

Hey @demonboy,

The thread was not dropped. I just answered it earlier today. See https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/remove-sidebar-and-format-page-on-dynamically-created-register-and-thank-you-pages/65364/12?u=christian_y

  1. Remove the custom code you placed in Theme Options > CSS. If removing that code conflicts with other pages, please consult with a third-party developer to fix the customizations for you as this is veering into custom development.

  1. First, create a custom sidebar in Appearance > Sidebar. Then, assign the sidebar to the post type that you need it to show up. After that, move the bbPress widgets to the custom sidebar.

Hope that helps.

No, sorry. What I am trying to do is REMOVE the sidebar from pages, not reposition it. That code you suggested I remove is designed to make the page full-width with no sidebar. If I remove it then this happens:

https://followtheboat.com/product-category/hats/

So now I have some pages displaying full-width like this:

https://followtheboat.com/checkout/

Some pages displaying with no sidebar but a gap where it’s supposed to be, and some pages with a custom sidebar like the one you created. It’s a mess.

I think the upshot of all this is that it is easier to put a sidebar on every page. This is not what I was aiming for but hey ho.

Hello @demonboy,

Thanks for updating the thread.

If the solution shared by my colleague is not sufficing the requirement then you can have sidebar on all the pages.

If you have further questions, please create a new ticket and someone from Themeco support team will assist you further.

Thanks
